I have 160 holding account points. Can someone help this lazy DVCer not have to dig through all her stuff and tell me if I can deposit them for World Passport? Probably not, but if so, what are the timing guidelines? The points expire Set. 30, 2008.

Jean, I don't think you can use holding points that way. You can use banked points, but I don't think you can use WDW holding points. If I'm wrong, someone will correct me, but that's what I recall. I'm too lazy to look it up too! It's too darn cold here right now, and the thought of that snow storm coming in today has me sluggish!

I rather figured that would be the case. I am just trying to avoid renting. My DSis's fiancee's sister and husband had to cancel at the last minute for our recent trip and now I have the fun of figuring out how to use the holding points. We already have trips to WDW in Jan. and March. I am going to Santa Barbara in Feb. and HHI at the end of May. That leaves summer, and I don't do Florida in summer. If I could use the holding points for a World Passport trip, it would give us some summer options.
DH is actually excited for the snow. He bought a new snow blower (even though we already had 2 perfectly good ones) and he is just itching to give it a run. Looks like he will be a happy camper today! I will be manning the shovel at Mom's house. At least our outdoor Christmas lights will look cool shining through the snow. :santa:

I don't know if your WDW trips in January and March are during very busy times, but you could see if you can swap your current reservations for a new one with the holding points. Then, since you're more than 31 days away, you could bank the points from the cancelled reservation. (I hope that makes sense -- I couldn't figure out how to word it. :headache: )

Actually, HH in May (unless you're going around Memorial Day) might work for this too. You just have to make sure that you try to do the swap after the 60-day mark, but before 31 days.

Good luck!

Thanks, Disneyaholic. I actually tried to do this for my Jan. trip, which is now within 60 days, but there was no availability, so no dice. The March trip is 8 - 15, so there is a slight possibility that I could rebook from a BW view 1 bedroom to maybe SSR or OKW. I would like to keep the BW view 1 bedroom for that trip because I am going with a GF and she has stayed at OKW with me. I thought it would be fun to give her a chance to enjoy a BW view this time. If I find I can swap out to any 1 bedroom that trip, that's likely what I will do. Our May trip to HHI is Memorial week, so that will probably not work. I am thanking my lucky stars that I have an Oct. use year so I have time to try several options. Use year DOES matter, especially with the new banking rules.

Jean - I think you should call MS and ask.

I think I recall something about "late deposits" for World Passport. Be sure to mention that you would make the deposit more than 120 days prior to the end of your use year (if it makes a difference and it might). I'm also remembering something about exchange restrictions for late deposits. Anyway, it's worth a call to check and even if you don't get the best exchange value, if it's something you can use, it's better than letting the pints go to waste. (And IMHO, better than trying to rent a reservation if you can only make one 60 days prior to arrival).

Good luck!

Thanks, Carol. I have actually resolved this and won't need to do a rental!!!!:cool1:

OK. I looked it up, LOL.

Jean, take a look at page 41 of the 2007-2008 Planner. You will be interested in the "Flex Deposit" info as well as the "Instant Search".

It is a L-O-N-G story, but MS helped me to use the points within DVC. I hope I never have to deal with holding points again. And I am not one who wants to rent out my points either. Just too much of a hassle.

For those interested, any deposits of under 60 days out are late deposits and are very restrictive further eroding the value of any given trade option. I'd make a late deposit only as a last resort. Anything over 30 days would be as good as 60 days out.
