Just curious of DVC owners that have had success renting out points in a holding account? I would imagine reservations are very hard to come by only 60 days out. Just trying to forecast if we cancel a reservation within 30 days the probability of being able to use the holding account points.
It's very probably that it may not be easy not only to find a renter but for you as the owner of the points to secure the reservation that they'd want because that reservation may only be made 60 days or less before check-in date wanted & could be especially difficult at a popular time of year &/or at the smaller DVC resorts but you may have more success getting a renter interested in your points if your rate per point is less than what is typically average amount points rent for. jmho if you can avoid having your points in Holding status do that.
Weekend reservations are typically the most available, but since they are the most points the asking price per point has to be less to get significantly below the DVC discounted rate. This is one area where the new point adjustments may help al little. In the simplest terms certainly you will be able to rent them, it is just that you may have to take significantly less $/pt to move them.
I have rented points in holding. The actual reservation itself may be more valuable than the points. The DVC rental boards here allow the rental of reservations within that final 30-day period.
