I haven't seen anyone mention this, but if you are wearing flip flops or any other type of shoes that don't strap around your foot, you should take them off and hold them in your hands! We went a couple of weeks ago and I nearly lost my Crocs! I wonder how many people do lose their shoes on this ride?

By the way, it was AWESOME, but it did make me motion sick. I don't know how anyone can keep their eyes open the entire time! And I had taken Dramamine too! I guess my stomach is not as tough as it used to be!

I wear flip flops to the parks all the time. On rides like Forbidden Journey or Dragon Challenge where your feet dangle, I take them off and sit on them. Naturally, this only works for flip flops as they are pretty flat, but it works great.

When I was there August 29th-Sept 4th I made early entry and rode Forbidden Journey several times every morning. I sat on my flip flops every ride. One ride was a lady sitting next to me who did lose one of hers. Her adult daughter apparently accidentally kicked her foot. She saw me taking mine off just before we stepped onto the moving belt and told me I didn't need to take them off, that flip flops would be fine. After we got off she looked at me and said, "Live and learn. I knew I could hold them on by scrunching my toes, but never thought about somebody else kicking them off my feet.":rotfl: As we got off, she asked a CM where she could buy some cheap flip flops.:rotfl:

As much as I love wearing sandals to IOA, I don't know if it's the best park for it - too much foot dangling. I have new Tesvs that have a criss-cross pattern that covers a lot of my foot. If those don't work I'm going to look for walking sandals that have a strap.

As I said before, I always wear flip flops to theme parks. Some parks have places to put your shoes where you can retrieve them right after you ride. When possible, I utilize those. But if they don't have that and my feet are going to dangle, I sit on them. Never had a problem.

I totally agree with this. I almost exclusively wear flip flops and after riding FJ several times I decided I could keep them on my feet because I knew what to expect. I was really lucky and the ride stopped at one point for technical trouble and I was able to scoop them off my feet and hold them. I was scrunching my toes for all I was worth and I was still scared they were going to swing off.

I wonder how many shoes end up in the bottom of that ride at the end of the day? I would assume they would get a ton of complaints if people lose their shoes!! I really looked and didn't see anything warning not to wear flip flops. Plus the TM didn't stop me. In my case I knew what to expect, but what about people riding for the first time that have no idea? :confused3

On one of my rides the TM saw me getting ready to take off my shoes and said that I didn't need to do that :) after that ride I took them off every time since I was just sure they were going to come off at every moment :) You are not going fast like a coaster but there are enough turns and jerks and I tend to swing my feet that they could easily fall off if your not careful.

DH pointed out to me that in the gift shop where you exit Forbidden Journey, they SELL FLIP FLOPS! Think they know people are gonna lose their shoes on that ride? :rotfl:

By the way, I didn't know to take mine off because I expected it to be like Soarin' at Disney, where you come back down in the same place, and can just leave your shoes on the floor. When I saw the moving walkway, I went "uh oh", but didn't think of taking them off in time. I "scrunched" my feet for all they were worth! Next time I know, sit on my shoes!

the kid next to me asked the person loading us if their shoes would be ok and they said yes
i was wearing my crocs and was fine (the normal crocs) but i think i might have been worried if i was wearing my flip flops...
