Hold my umbrella while I find your poncho! A May 2012 TR-- NEW-FINALLY! 1/17; pg. 29

Love the update! I didn't know that about the First Family, either! We'll have to check that out!

Those nachos look DELICIOUS!! :thumbsup2

I am definitely going to have to remember those nachos next time I'm in Epcot--wow, they look great!

I hope you are able to retrieve the missing item!

I gained that little bit of information from MeMom! (Thanks, MeMom! :thumbsup2 )

Glad we could help. :)

This is the treat that is on my list to get this time. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

That is so funny! :rotfl: I would have loved to have seen that family's expressions when some strange man jumped in the car with them! What did they do?

They laughed, as they witnessed the whole situation. They chatted with him a bit. He said they were really nice. :goodvibes

I didn't know about it either until this past year! :thumbsup2

Nachos were yummy--once I got all those tomatoes scraped off!

I hope you are able to retrieve the missing item!

Well, I will go ahead and tell you that it doesn't look good! :worried:

Yes, yes! ::yes::

I laugh every time I start thinking about this story!

Great updates!!!

Count me in as another one who didn't know about the "first familly" things until I read it here. Thanks! (and thanks MeMom). Not that my family will ever do it. But I love knowing you can...

Sounds like you made the most of a day that was not the nicest weatherwise. Touring some countries, eating some yummy food and solo rides in a clamshell. All winners!

Loving your TR!!! mmmmm nachos. Yes now I'm hungry :):)

They were good! We ordered two between the four "big folks" and there was plenty-especially when we knew we had a big dinner coming up around 5! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Dee! :)

For us, there's just no choice when it rains---You can't sit inside crying about it. You've paid for the trip, so get out and enjoy it as much as possible! :thumbsup2

(The ride in the clamshell was the best! ;) )

After we finished our snacks, Elizabeth wanted to look at that little shop near the International Gateway. This child will shop anywhere! It had just rained (again), so one of the Epcot workers was towel drying off the benches lining that area toward Beach/Yacht Club/Boardwalk. Kevin and I sat down on a dry bench to wait. Reid was also out with us while the girls were in the gift shop. It was right here that Reid made an announcement.

He realized then that he didn’t have his pin lanyard. I asked him where it could be, and he said he remembered taking it off “in the boat ride in Norway.” I couldn’t figure out why he would have taken it off there, and he told me it was because Rachel had told him he was going to get wet-and he didn’t want his pins to get wet! UGH!

This was super-frustrating, because just the previous day at AK, he began the day wearing a ball-cap, and when we left the park that evening, we realized he wasn’t wearing it anymore. Where he had laid it-we had no idea! At this rate, he wasn’t going to have anything before we ended our trip. :crazy2:

I told Kevin that I would walk back to Norway to check on the lanyard, but I made Reid come with me. He fussed about it, but I told him it was his lanyard, and his fault it was lost. So we left Kevin and the girls lounging around on the benches, and we began our trek back around the world. The girls did what any other teenaged girls would do---they texted their friends, tweeted, braided hair, and then instagrammed the pics!

While I have no photo proof of it, I’m pretty sure that Kevin napped during this time! :lmao:

OH-Norway-Why did you have to be halfway around the world? We finally got over there and walked up to the entrance to explain our situation to one of the CMs there. We told her what the lanyard looked like and that there were four pins on it. She told us she would go and check to see if one had been turned in. Right after she left, it began to rain again. The other CM asked if we’d like to step inside while we waited, so we did. When she returned, she told us that no one had turned in a lanyard. Then she told Reid that she had four pins he could have though. pixiedust: That was very nice, and we thanked her.

As we began to walk away, the rain got heavier. We took cover underneath one of the little awnings on the shops near Maelstrom. We waited for probably a good ten minutes. Kevin called and said they were in the gift shop near International Gateway, waiting out the rain. Since it was already 4:30, I couldn’t see walking back to meet Kevin and the girls, when we had a dinner reservation at 5 in Japan. He agreed to meet us there when they had a lull in the rain.

As soon as the rain lightened, Reid and I set off with our umbrella, and made the short trip over to Japan. We were a little early to check in, so we went in the Mitsukoshi store to look around. There is so much to see, and with all the Pokémon, Mario, and BeyBlades around, it was one place where my 9-year-old boy didn’t mind shopping! After about 20 minutes, we walked out and literally walked right into Rachel. She said her dad and Elizabeth were sitting on the stairs outside. We walked in and got checked in for our dinner reservation at Teppan Edo.

We ate here for the first time during our May 2010 trip, and everyone loved it. So we had decided to try it again. Dinner was yummy. Kevin and Rachel had the steak, and Elizabeth and I had the chicken.

When dinner was finished, we came out to find it was almost time for Miyuki to do her final show. She is the “candy lady”---She makes candy right in front of you that is like art. She is so talented! :thumbsup2 Anyone in the audience can call out any animal, and she will make it right there in less than two minutes. It was amazing! The animals she made during our show (from left to right) were: tiger, alligator, flamingo, kangaroo-with her baby in the pouch-, and a dragon.

We left there and continued our walk around World Showcase, stopping in Canada to listen to Off-Kilter, and for the girls to buy a bracelet. When we walked back into Future World, we took Reid to Electric Umbrella to grab a hamburger. He had not eaten in Teppan Edo, because he didn’t like anything on the menu, so he had just drank a Sunkist, and waited. While Kevin and Rachel sat with him, Elizabeth and I shopped around in Mouse Gears. One thing that caught my eye was this-

Unfortunately, it did not come home with me!

We decided to make a stop in Coca-Cola Cool. I realized that Reid had never been in there, and he needed to sample the Beverly!

IMG_9485.jpg

I think he thought he could “wipe” it off his tongue!

While we were in there, I had a surprise, mini DIS-meet. “Miss Liz” recognized me from my PTR pictures (I guess) and we stopped and talked for a few minutes. I remembered to have our picture made. (Out of the three DISers I met, this was the only time I remembered to take a picture!)

IMG_9487.jpg

It was fun to talk to her and meet her family! :)

We rode Spaceship Earth on our way out of the park around 7:30. We were back to the Poly by 8. This little critter was waiting for us when we got into our room.

There was some swimming to do, and then we were all in the bed by 10.

UP NEXT: YOU'RE CANCELING THE SHOW?

Great update! That was nice of the CM to help with the pins--love that Disney magic! pixiedust: Teppan Edo looks yummy! We've never seen the candy lady before...that is so cool!

Loved this update!

Sorry to hear about Reid's lanyard. I have a son who misplaces things all the time (my teenager). He has lost text books every year in middle school and even a lap top somewhere in the house! So I feel your pain. That was really nice of the CM to give him some replacement pins. :goodvibes

Teppan Edo is fun! We haven't been for a few years but we always enjoy it.

I love the pictures of Miyuki's creations! Beautiful!

Did Reid have any idea in advance about Beverly?

So cool that you had an impromptu Dis Meet!

UGH....I was two updates behind...sorry.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for being the first family at the Character Spot. I never knew about that...I may have to try that in September so Mark isn't so antsy about "waiting."

Sounds like a great day. Sorry Reid lost his lanyard, but that was very nice of the CM to give him four pins to replace his.

Dinner looks yummy.

Too funny about Kevin taking a nap...but no proof...while you and Reid went in search of the lanyard. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'll have to try Teppan Edo sometime soon, it looks like fun!
I love that shop as you leave World Showcase too. . .one day I'm going to get the zipper hoodie with the international flag mickey heads on it!
Too bad he didn't find his lanyard, but always nice to be in WDW when such a thing happens to be pixiedust:
I know I feel like a doof for not taking our pic, especially when my camera was right there on the table next to me :headache:

Does your daughter's shirt say "I love FHU"....as in Freed Hardeman University?

Great update! Teppan Edo is one place we considered eating at but didn't. It sounds really good!

We didn't spend much time in the Japan pavilion, and as a result, didn't go into Mitsukoshi. I think I'm going to keep that quiet from my bey blade loving boys. ;)

Looking forward to the next update!!

That's cool you got to see the candy lady. I remember catching the end of one of her shows but I'd love to see the whole thing. It is pretty cool she can make all those animals!

Sorry that Reid didn't find his lanyard. We've had a few of those moments, but luckily we've been able to find what was left.

You are correct! I did recognize you from your PTR pictures! It was very nice getting to chat for a couple minutes.

We've never eaten at Teppan Edo. I'm not sure why, though. We love the store in Japan. There is so much to look at. My oldest finally decided to do the pick a pearl this trip. She did great! She ended up picking the largest pearl of the day. They banged the drum for longer and she was so embarrassed. It was fun!

So sad that Reid lost his lanyard :sad1: But that was so nice of the lady to offer him the 4 pins.

Teppan Edo was so good this trip. Did the candy lady come around Teppan Edo?? We did not see this.

That snow globe is gorgeous!!!

The good ol' Beverly. I had Sam try it too this trip. Did you tell him it tastes nasty before he tried it?

Poor Reid, I remember our first trip when Shanleigh was losing everything so it brought back those memories for me!

We love Teppan Edo but havent been in a few years! We had an ADR this trip but something much more important took its place so I didnt mind missing it one bit!

We saw the Candy Lady for the first time last year and she blew us away. Isnt it funny how talented people make everything look easy:lmao:

Inspite of the rain, you all look like youre having an amazing time:thumbsup2
