We are currently booked into Highway side rooms with 2 queens. The online bookings only had two options and the other option was poolside with smaller beds and we hate smaller beds... particularly when our boys are sharing one.
Is the highway side really noisy? Is it not soundproofed at all? Will it keep us awake?
I'm just wondering if I need to phone HoJos to see if there are other Queen bed options? Would the room price increase substantially to go to a different area of the hotel?

If you are use to freeway noise it might not be bad.

We were not use to freeway noise it drove me insane good thing we were so tired from the park it was lights out when I hit the pillow.

We just got back yesterday from Hojo's and had a poolside room (upgraded for free from the freeway side) and the beds were plenty big for 2 people. I would guess they were queensized beds.

I've stayed freeway side in bldg 2 3 or 4 times now, only once was the noise bad and that was simply due to the placement of our room. It was way in the back corner and right next to the freeway so it was loud.

Are the "smaller" beds the doubles? We have no problems at all sharing them, the girls take one and DBF and I take the other. Plenty big enough and DBF is 6' 3". He's a bit crowded at the bottom but it doesn't impede his ability to sleep at all.

:)If the other option is double beds, then it must be one of the pavillion bldgs. with a room facing the pool (I believe the options are pool facing or courtyard facing). The pool "view" rooms (ones that are directly overlooking the pool and are at poolside), are in bldg. 2 and I think they are all queen beds. We've only stayed in bldg. 2 in queen beds, so I can't give an opinion there, but I know that I would gladly stay in a room with doubles also. For us, they would be fine.

We just spent last weekend at HoJos and were booked in one of the highway facing rooms.

However, I think if there are non-highway rooms available for the length of your trip, they will let you go ahead and upgrade for free.

When we were there, the only other building that had rooms available was Bldg 4, with a choice between facing the pool or courtyard, BUT all Bldg 4 rooms have double beds.

This was a tough decision for us. We are only three people, but my son rolls and kicks in his sleep so much, that he still needs guard rails at night.

Well, we picked Bldg 4, since my husband is a light sleeper. The double beds are the biggest double beds I've seen, just a half foot smaller than our Queen bed. So, I could easily share the bed with my son and not get attacked/bumped/shoved at all through the night and during naps.

Word of advice, the rooms on the top floors have cathedral ceilings with two skylights, so there is no way to get the room dark during naptime, but we were so tired in the afternoons after the park and Pirate Cove that it wasn't a problem for us.

Have a great time. I loved the hotel and highly recommend it!
