I called HOJO's to change the date of my reservation and I asked for a quiet room. The really nice reservationist said she would put us in a quieter room but it is on the ground floor. Any experience to share on ground floor rooms? We don't care about a view. TIA

Which bldg? I've always preferred being on the second floor in the Pavilion bldgs, I don't like people above me, they always wake me up being loud.

The only "not as good experience" we have ever had in 18 years of staying there, was in a ground floor room. But things are subjective. I'll tell you the things we did not like about the room, and where it was, then you can decide if it's important to you or not :)
We love Hojo's by the way, will be staying there again at the end of the month :thumbsup2
First off, it was a last minute trip, and we booked late, they were very full so we had no real choice....and when we discovered we were not going to be happy where we were, they were 100% occupied so we could not move..we gave it a try for a few nights but then moved over to the DLH.
We were in building 2, it's the big wide 4 story building at the back of the property, which we had stayed in on different occasions before and been extremely happy. those times we were on the 2nd and 4th floors with full balconies on the left side of the building when you are facing the building from the pool, great view, sun in the morning, lovely balcony to sit on. This time we were on the right side of the building, first floor, room 103 ish...give or take one number. You have to walk right to the back of the property in the first place to get to that building, but then when you walk in the door to get to that room you have to back track all the way to the end of the building to the room...we were very tempted to leave the balcony door open and hop over the hedge :lmao: the room was as close as you could get to the main pathway going to the pool and building so if the curtain was open people could look right in. We love to have our windows or whatever wide open and enjoy the view where ever we are. we being the way we are did not of course use the balcony at all which we also like to do. because of the side of building the room was on, it got no sun at all ever. it was very dark. at that time they were just replacing the beds and had not gotten to those rooms and our bed was very uncomfortable, to the point I was taking tylenol for my back....we love the new beds they have!!
:thumbsup2
we have also stayed in the tall building (1) on upper or top floor and loved that! will be staying in building 4 on the second floor this time out...
so I guess if you don't spend a lot of time in the room and don't care about how light it is, or having a view, or some extra walking, it would have been a good room! :confused3 sorry for such a long post, I tried to be as detailed as possible to be subjective. Where are you located now? Even the "noisy" part of a room description is subjective, I've read people's reviews here who had stayed in the same rooms, one complaining one saying it was fine :confused3

Thank you for the info. I better call back and find out which building. We have never stayed at Hojo's before, so I don't know anything about the buildings. We are in a kids suite. They said that all of the kid suites face the street. I will call back and see if I can find out exactly where the room is. I'll check the website to see if there is a hotel map.

this next trip will be our first time in one of those rooms...son and dil and grands all stayed in one in February and LOVED it! they've stayed before in building 2 on the 4th floor and liked that, and they've stayed in building 1 6th floor, and say they would now request a pavillion building preferably facing castaway cove...

We had a ground floor room in building 2 in May & didn't have any problems. When we first arrived I did hear a lot of noise above us. It was enough that I told dh if it continued we were going to have to ask to move. But, we never heard it again. Maybe they were working up there or maybe we had noisey neighbors, I don't know but it all worked out fine.

What I did like about the ground floor room is that I felt totally comfortable letting my 2 y.o. out on the balcony w/o being terrified she'd fell. Heck, my older kids for that matter too! For that peace of mind-I really enjoyed the ground floor.

Well looking at the Hojo's grounds and room layout at their site, the kids suites are in building one so right away you won't have a long walk! and like MyMonkies said...if it's on the ground floor, you won't have to worry about kids falling off the balcony!! :goodvibes (see it's all subjective!) I honestly don't recall in the probably hundred times or more we've walked back and forth in front of building one, or gone out to the parking lot on the opposite side of the building when we've had to park there.... being able to see into the ground floor rooms so I'm sure privacy is not an issue! the kids suites look fantastic and if I had kids I would not hesitate to stay in one no matter which building it was in!! Have you watched the videos there with Lorealle and Willie?! so cool and shows you exactly what you are getting.... I almost wish my kids were little again so I could stay in one of those suites!! :rotfl: maybe one day when they are a little older, we can take our grand kids and stay there! building one also has the arcade and gift store and laundry in it... a perfect spot for a family I think!
heres a link to the page it's on....just put your cursor over take a tour, then select video's, suites. the kids suite is at the end of the video.... Willie need to sleep more at night by the way! :lmao:

would have been helpful for me to actually put the link in...

OK so you will be on the freeway side of bldg 1. That's really all I know.....I've never stayed in a kids' suite. I have stayed in bldgs 3 and 5 (pavilion bldgs) and the road noise did bother me but turning the fan on helped drown it out so I was able to sleep fine. :)

I think the ground floor of bldg. 1 facing the freeway (which all kids' suites do) is your best chance of a quieter room. Anything over the freeway wall will be really, really loud.

I stayed on the ground floor of building 1 and had no dramas was better than having to go up the elevator every time we were coming and goin

I agree!;) It was hard to get all of my girls to stay still next to the elevators and then get them in when at the same time as the other guests!!! LOL!! They were very excited or very tired each time we came to those sliding doors!!! :rotfl2: Just my two cents...popcorn::

Thanks Dangermouse. :thumbsup2 This is exactly what the reservationist said about the room that she put us in. Never thought about the elevator issues before, but I have a six year old who has lost the group twice because of elevators!

And you would also avoid the 'dramas' of whose turn it is to press the elevator button EVERY.SINGLE.TIME you needed to go to your room :rolleyes1

(For the record, we stayed in a Kid's Suite on the 5th floor and absolutely loved it! The freeway noise did not bother us at all)

I hear you, I hear you!! The eldest always 'wants to push the button' but not to actually push it, but to push the younger child's buttons in the process! :lmao:

The kids suite is absolutely fabulous, and since it faces the I5, (as in, no Disneyland Park view) I really don't think it will matter as to what floor you're on. It's ALL good when you're in a Hojo's kids suite. :) You will LOVE it. :goodvibes I agree, the freeway noise was really no problem for us, either.

We stayed on the first floor last month and had no problems.

I loved not having to wait for the elevator. We didn't hear any noise above us and I would have felt sorry for anyone below us because my 2 boys were very bouncy and noisy. We tried our best to keep them quiet but I liked that we didn't have to worry about someone right below us.

Just stayed at HOJO, ground level in the building just behind the office and had no problems what so ever. No noise and no problems, it was nice

We stayed on the ground floor of building one. Facing away from the highway. DH and DS loved it since we were close to the gift shop. It was quiet too..

We stayed on the ground floor, facing the adult pool. It was very quiet.. but we were only in the room from midnight until about 8am lol!

We were on the ground floor of building 5 facing the freeway Friday night. I turned on the fan and had no problem with noise. Only thing I didn't like was double beds. I'm used to sleeping in a queen!

We were just on the ground floor in Building 2 facing the pool. It was very nice and very quiet. We found a short cut to get to our room by going through the pool. But it only works between the hours of 9am and 10pm when the pool is open.
