We currently planning a trip to DLR at the end of June and we currently are staying at the Fairfield but in researching hotels, it seems that a lot of people seem to like HOJO. Tripadvisor has them rated quite highly and their rates seem to be fairly priced. When I asked a few people about it off the fourms, they all responded to basically say it's like a Motel 6 or Days Inn, which doesn't say quality place to stay when I hear those names.

Has anybody stayed at both locations and if so, can you offer some feedback? I haven't stayed at the Fairfield so I'm not sure what to expect here either but I've heard it's at least decent.

I can't speak for the Fairfield Inn, but I can for staying at the Hojo. It's a nice quality hotel if you ask me. Some say motel, but I don't think it's bad at all. I prefer to stay on site, but if I can get retro rate, will book hojos. It's got a good waterpark for kids, nice adult pool, good shop and amenities. That said, it's not a resort, but it's cheap and I think the retro rates, location and water area make it a popular destination for families wanting to go to the DLH. It's more than decent I'd say, especially if you get it at a great price.

I have stayed at both several times. Both are fine. My kids prefer the pool options at Hojos over Fairfield. Fairfield may seem closer, but the walk is pretty much the same if you are in building 1, 3 or 4 at Hojos. I guess the real test would be the fact that a couple of days ago I booked a trip and was debating the two and in the end paid $7 more for Hojos. You can't beat their customer service and comfy beds.

I have a friend who usually stays at HOJO and really likes it. We have not been to either, but will be at the FFI in 2 weeks. I'll try to remember to report back.

HOJOs is definitely better than a Motel 6. We stay at several Motel 6s in different cities mostly out of necessity, not by choice--I'll spare you the details. While a Motel 6 is usually a basic, clean room--their beds, bedding, furniture and amenities leave a lot to be desired. While they aren't super fancy, HOJOs on the other hand has great beds, high quality bedding, a great pool area and, to me, overall a better feel than staying at a Motel 6. And to get the best quality at the HOJO, IMO, stay in a deluxe room or a premium room. I'm not crazy about the standard rooms.

Sorry--No opinion on the Fairfield.

Over the years we have stayed at several of the motels around DLR. On our last trip we decided to spend the extra money and stay at HoJo. After the first night, we knew that we would never stay anywhere else. The rooms are very nice, with interior doors (very important with kids), the grounds are lovely (especially in the early morning), the staff are efficient and friendly, and the little store they have there had just about anything you could need.
And their parking lot is large and we can easily park our van. At some of the other motels, the spaces are few and we could barely park the van and had to hope we weren't blocked in when we wanted to leave.

I've stayed at both. We def prefer hojo but have only stayed in building two. My main reason I prefer it is because it is quieter and has indoor corridors. And I've often been able to get the ent rate which makes it a great value. If u have five people the Fairfield has a sofabed in the room but hojos is an extra charge for a rollaway. But Fairfield charges for parking and hojo doesn't. Basically I'd stay wherever was a better price.

We have stayed at HOJO 2 years in a row and will stay there again in October for our first Halloween trip! He absolutely wouldn't stay anywhere else. Like the others said, the service, close walk, water play area...you can't beat it!
