Well our last two trips were DLH in 2005 in a Concierge room, and Hojo last week. We stayed at the Hojo in a Premium view room for the Entertainment rate of $74 a night. I loved it and would stay there again over the DLH--we paid a fortune for the concierge level and even then it didn't make the DLH the greatest.
For the Hojo price, you can't beat it. The walk, although not a "themed" one, felt shorter to me to the gates than our walk from the DLH did. Perhaps because it's so quiet if you cross the street at Manchester and take the short cut. Never anyone in front of you. The staff is excellent. It's clean, convenient and very nice. The beds were super comfy. We were in the tower with the store in the lobby and we used it for many things. It's so much faster. At the DLH it's so big, you have to wait for elevators and a long check in line, etc. And the view! While the Hojo views are obscured by their fine landscaping, we had a view of the Matterhorn's waterfall perfectly through our trees, could see the Monorail go by, and had terrific views of DCA sun wheel, ToT, and California Screamin from our balcony.
I completely agree with the previous posters. We thought about spending our last night at the GCH just for fun, and one night at the GCH in a "parking lot/construction view" room would have cost MORE than our entire five nights at the Hojo. Gotta look at priorities and for us, we were happier to drop a lot of money on nice dinners in DTD and on souvies than one night in a room that we were hardly in.
