Hojo upgrade worth it?

So I have only stayed in the Deluxe and Premium rooms at Hojo, this time I have a standard room booked. So a few questions:

Is it worth it to upgrade? We will have me, DH, and 3 kids under 5. We will have a double stroller also.

I don't really care about the view, but I don't want a room way in the back that will add much to the walk.

The buildings with standard rooms are two story buildings with no elevators. You may want to request a ground floor room in case it might be difficult with a stroller and your little ones, or you may want to upgrade to the deluxe rooms in bldg. 2 where you would have access to the elevators. But, bldg. 2 is in the back of the property and will be more of a walk than the buildings with the standard rooms.

Yes, it has elevators because it has 4 floors. (I edited my first post to add the info. about the elevators before I saw your question about that. ) We love bldg. 2. . It is very quiet back there, and the little bit of an extra walk is worth it to us, but I don't have any young children

building 6 is where its @ get a ground floor and enjoy not really worth the money for building 2 if you ask me.

We stayed in Building 2 and we really liked it. You can get a room overlooking the pool and although it is a longer walk it is not really that much further.

Is your standard room the highway side of building 1 or in buildings 3-6? For me, this would make a difference. I am a light sleeper. We stayed in a kids suite in building 1 on the highway side at the entertainment rate. Previously we had only stayed in a deluxe in building 2. For the added space and the second bathroom at such a great price, it was worth it to me to put up with the highway noise. For a cheap standard room, it would not be worth it to me. I would rather pay the upgrade price and be in building 2 or on the other side of building 1 even. If you are in buildings 3-6 and looking to save a little money and don't mind having double beds instead of queen and not having an elevator, then no worries about the standard room.

Don't forget the microwave issue too. I forget which rooms have the microwave but I am pretty sure that the standard rooms in buildings 3-6 do not have them. I think you can get a room in building 2 with a microwave. Just ask for a room on the end closest to Disneyland, ground floor and you will not be much further when all is said and done.

building 1 highway side the noise sucks bad if your not use to hwy noise. we didnt like that at all

We were on the 3rd floor of building 1. The freeway noise is a constant background noise that you can't help but notice. The only time I didn't notice it that much was when the tv was turned up. I could hear the freeway when going to sleep at night, but I could still get to sleep. The difficulty for me was that when I woke up in the middle of the night, I would have a much more difficult time getting back to sleep. That freeway noise is there 24/7. Still, it's better to me than being in a Harbor facing hotel room at Candy Cane Inn for instance. Honking horns and the stop and go street noise is much worse than the constant "roar" of the highway. I live in a pretty quiet area. I can sometimes hear the highway and trains in the middle of the night, but it's a more distant sound that doesn't often disturb me. I think it's all in what you're used to. Some people on these boards will tell you that you barely hear a thing and it's not at all disruptive to be on the highway side at Hojos. Others will say it's awful and they could barely sleep.

Yes, all the rooms come with a fridge.

We didn't notice the freeway noise at all last October. The only thing that bothered me about HOJOs was that my double jogger wouldn't fit through the doorway (it did at Portofino Inn & Suites, Hampton Inn and DLH). Which meant we had to load and unload the kids in the hall and fold the stroller to get it through the door.

I personally did not mind the highway noise when I have stayed on Building 1 facing the highway. I seem to always notice it at the beginning of the stay, but the rest of the time it kind of becomes white noise to the point where I truly dont notice it.

I personally prefer building 1 to the standard rooms in other buildings because having queen beds is more of a concern to me.
