I've read that there's a $15 charge per night for a rollaway, but I've also read that some have never been charged a fee. I also read in a TR that there was a rollaway in the closet. I can't recall having one in our closet but that's been a few years.

Can anyone that has been there recently weigh in on this? Is there definitely a charge or not?

When we stayed in a Premium room there was a rollaway in the closet (we didn't use it though) the last time we stayed (I think it was just a standard room) there was no rollaway in the room.

Cribs are free, make the extra person sleep in a crib :rotfl:

I like the way you think but my 7 year old is way too tall anyway. :lmao:

I just called and talked to HOJO, they said that even if there is one in the closet you're charged if you use it. $15 a night, just sounds so high to me. :confused3

^^ I guess it depends.
I had booked Park vue $129 a night- was considering desert inn and suites for $119 a night.... and in each need the "3rd bed" because even on the nights DH isn't there yet- we still have me/2 girls/1 boy... and I don't wanna sleep with either of the girls! They are rough sleepers- let them beat up one another all night instead of me LOL

HOJO with ET rate was $59 a night- so even with rollaway it's worth it. (in other words for us $74 a night is still significantly less than other places we were looking at that wouldn't need a rollaway for extra charge)
We've stayed there before and used the rollaway, it worked well for us.
Just add in the $15 a night charge when comparing it to other places to stay and see if it's worth it to you?

I do think this is relatively new. We always stay in the standard 2 story buildings. Every room had a rollaway in the closet. We used them in the past and have not been charged. When I booked for our trip in December I was told that the rollaways had been taken out of the closets, and we would be charged if we requested one.

LOL, We had tried, on a previous stay, where Dad sleeps in same bed as son and Mom sleeps in same bed as daughter and my DH and I were both getting beat up nightly by the kids thrashing around in their sleep. I hear you on that one!

For us, a family of 4 with a teenage boy and a 9 year old girl, each child needs their own bed, so the premium room with the cot worked out great for us, the cot fits perfectly right beside the Queen bed closest to the balcony door, see picture here. $15 extra a night was well worth it for us. The cot was very comfortable for our daughter.

HAHA
Teenaged dd, teenaged ds, pre-teen dd.... and both girls rough sleepers.
HAHA
You see the reason we need at least 3 beds huh LOL

LOL at the photo with Mickey over the face- cute. :)
Yes, that's exactly how our cot was set up the last time we stayed there and also considered it well worth it. There's plenty of room too. It's they have an empty space "in case you need a cot" that's just being unused if you don't. LOL

Just wait until the kids turn 18, the they'll be a $10 extra charge w/o a cot most places.it does factor in though, we have 6 adults and 2 kids in our group, so two extra adult fees - that's why we would up w/ a suite at desrt inn, as far as I can tell, no extra person fees.

I know.
I have one that is 17. she'll be 18 on our trip next year- if turns out she can go with us... have to see what she's doing at that time. Everythang just gets more expensive as they get older. LOL

This has been our experience in the past as well. If they took them out of those rooms I wonder where they store them now? That would be a lot of beds!!

Count us as one of the lucky families that has never been charged. We've stayed at HoJo 4 different times and have requested a rollaway 3 of those times and planned for the expense. Never once has it showed up on our bill. :confused3

We appreciate NOT having to pay for it - but planned for it anyway. DS 14 just does better when he doesn't have to sleep with a little brother.

Every other hotel we've ever stayed at and requested a rollaway, we've been charged.

It really is worth it - even at $15 a night. There isn't a parking charge, no resort fee and - if you can get the Retro Rate - that makes it totally worth it, to me.

Maid service makes up that bed, too. :thumbsup2

We stayed in a Standard Room last April when the rollaways were still in the closet. The bed had a tag on it listing the details of the $15 charge, but like a lot of others here, the charge never showed up on my bill. It would have been worth it for me even if it had.

You know what- I couldn't remember so I had to go check... and sure enough, we used rollaway bed for the week we were there prior to cruise in 2009 and weren't charged. :)
