Wow...I am coming up with all kinds of questions now. My DH and I will be staying at the HoJo for our upcoming trip. I saw a discussion earlier about the rooms that fall under the entertainment rate, but I didn't see anything about the King rooms, only the Dbl or Queen. We reserved a King, so I was wondering if anyone can help with a couple of details?

1. Do the King rooms have microwaves?
2. Are they only in certain buildings?
3. Is there a certain building that I should ask for? We would like to be close to either the pool or the hot tub.
4. Are there requests that anyone would recommend I make? As far as ground floor, or a certain side that isn't noisy, ect. We don't care about view over value at all, but we do hope to have a fridge and microwave, and a comfortable bed.
5. Does anyone know if some rooms have been renovated recently?

Thank you! :goodvibes

I have never personally stayed in a King room, and I can only answer some of your questions.

The King rooms are either in bldg. 1 and are freeway facing, or are in bldg. 2 facing the pool area. I dont believe the king rooms have microwaves, but I could be wrong about that (since they've been upgrading rooms consistently for months).

I would request the king room be in Bldg. 2 since it will undoubtedly be the most quiet for you.

I know they have updated all the queen beds and bedding in buildings 1 and 2, but I have not read anything about the king beds.

If you want the most current and accurate answers to your questions, I would email Lorealle at the HoJo at lorealle.bishop@hojoanaheim.com

HTH.

According to hojo anaheim's webpage there are only microwaves in the deluxe rooms.

Here is a great link for room descriptions and amenities for the Howard Johnson Hotel:

The NK1 and the PNK1 (One king bed) does not have a microwave. All of the rooms do have a small fridge.

The SNK1 (One king bed) has both a microwave and a small fridge.

Also here is the link for the Entertainment Card Rate from the
Howard Johnson's Innsider Board Website:

Once there, one can find many other useful topics and information as well.
If you book by phone, do not call the 800 number, the representatives will not normally know what you are talking about. Instead call In-house reservations. One may also request to speak with Lorealle, who is one of the managers.
One does not need the EC when booking, but rather upon checking in, in order to receive the $59/$69 or $79.00 per night rate.

The deluxe (NQQ2) and premium (NQQ1) rooms all have microwaves.

The NK1 rooms are in Bldgs. 1 and 2. The PNK1 is the ADA accessible room in Bldg. 3 (a pavillion building). Looks like none of them have micros. The SNK1 is the King Suite (which I am sure the OP has not reserved).

Answer to Q1 is they don't have food on property except for the main street Store which has snack foods and breakfast cereals and stuff like that. I would direct you to Mimi's:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 http://www.mimiscafe.com/ . They have the most reasonbly priced food as well as excellent service. Not to mention the food is terrific. Portions are huge and sharing is suggested. If you have too much then doggy bag it and take it back to the room for later. We just got back from a 10 day trip and we ate 6 times there:worship: . The kids loved going there as much as Disney. Check out the link for the menu. Also stay far far away from CAPTAIN KIDDS!!!! It is located at the intersection to Disney and for the life of me i can't see how they can call that stuff FOOD.:scared1:

Q2
They are looking at putting in Kids suites but as yet still in the planning stages. We had the NQQ1 room and it has 2 queen size beds. We ordered up a cot for the 3rd kid and they are 12,12 and 15. We all managed fine. Check out this link for pictures of their rooms and descriptions :surfweb: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/rooms/

Thanks everyone for all the answers. I am going to call the in-house and just see if maybe we can get a mic in our room if not available...if not, we may just switch to the Q/Q.

Does anyone who has experience staying there have any other rec's, such as ground floor or top floor or anything like that? Also, can anyone tell me a little about the bathrooms? I know some of the hotels in Anaheim do not have terrific bathrooms, as far as no fans, not a lot of space, ect. I am hoping to have a clear picture of what we are walking into! Either way, you can't beat the price, but it is nice to know ahead. :lmao: Thanks again, you guys are all great to help!

Only four weeks to go...very exciting!

Hi DizFan!

I'm so excited to hear that you are going to be staying with us on your next trip to DL!

To answer your questions:
1. Right now, the only room with a king bed that has a microwave is our King Suite, unfortunately.
2. Most of our Standard King Rooms are located in Building 1 [The 7-Story, Tower Building] facing towards the highway. We do have a few Standard King Rooms in Building 2, facing towards the Garden Pool.
3. If you'd like to be close to a pool, then you'll probably want to request Building 2! If you'd like to be as close as possible to the Hot Tub, you'll want to request Building 1! We can definitely note your preference on your reservation, but please be advised that we cannot guarantee it! [Our Front Desk Staff always does their best to try to accommodate everyone's requests.]
4. If you need a microwave, I would recommend booking a Deluxe Room with 2 Queen Beds facing towards the Garden Pool in Building 2. That would get you a pool view and the microwave that you want!
5. The only rooms that ALL have the new, Heavenly Mattresses in them are our Premium Disney View Rooms. [Those rooms also have a fridge, microwave and balcony.]

I hope that this information has been helpful to you! Please don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything else that I can do; I'd love to help in any way that I can!

We'll see you soon!
Lorealle

We stayed at HoJo for the first time the beginning of Dec. We really liked it ALOT! I did call and ask for a few things for our reservation. They won't guarantee - but will note your requests and will try really, really hard to meet it.

I asked for upgraded beds and bedding. We had lovely mattresses and my DH still talks about how much he liked the pillows. We had a desk w/chair, small table with 2 chairs, micro and fridge. (NQQ2) We were on the ground floor with a view of the Garden pool and our first night we were able to see a lot of the fireworks from the back of building 2. They were really noisy outside - but they didn't bug our little boys who were asleep in the room.

We had stuff for breakfast in the room - yogurt, oatmeal, cold cereal, muffins. My kids are hungry when they wake up so it was good to have some food they could have right away. The fridge is dorm-sized, but can still hold enough stuff. There are enough drawers to hold your food and stuff if you don't want it sitting out cluttering up the space.

The bathroom is a decent size. There are two sinks, a shower/bath combo and a toilet. I could move around really easily when I was giving my little kids showers. And there was room on the counter for our toiletries bag. Plenty of towels and room for moving around in the bathroom. Our bath was very clean - no mold or anything in the caulk and the floor tile was clean. Good Bathroom.

We stayed in building 2 in a 2 queen room with a connecting door to my parent's room. My mom had an ECV and was able to leave it parked outside the room because there was a sort of alcove in the hall. She brought it inside to charge during the night and there was plenty of room.

Hope you have a great stay. We liked being close to DLR at a Hotel (not motel) with great beds, lots of parking, fridge and micro and very friendly people. We would definitely stay there again. :)

In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity - Albert Einstein

Sorry off topic for my post, but I quite rather like that quote. For at this time, I am having a most difficult one.
I had figured that out, some time ago, actually. But sometimes, it is good to be reminded, one way or another. Thank you for the qoute.
