HoJo - is it worth it?

Our plan was to stay at the Super 8 on Disneyland Dr. I just got a nice raise at work (yay!) which is going to allow us to put more $$ aside for our trip. We are going the week before Thanksgiving (11/16-11/22) so weather will be unpredictable for swimming and our days we're not at DLR we will be spending with my family near Malibu & in the LA area, so we won't be at the hotel much, period.

Is it worth the extra $35-$40 a night to stay at HoJo? Is there another Good Neighbor hotel you'd recommend in the same price range (economy to moderate)?

The only things we NEED out of a hotel besides a clean bed & bath are free parking and a refrigerator to store stuff to take to the parks with us to snack on/drink. I'd also like it to be walking distance to the park.

Thanks :)

Hojo is really nice. I have stayed there twice and both times had a nice experience. I am not sure about THAT particular week but I do know that at certain times of year they have discounts so you might want to look into that. Either entertainment book or the current retro discounts.

We were able to get a really nice queen room for 69 a night. I would ask for a room in bldg 2 if you want to make sure you are not backed up to I5 and it is a little bit of a walk. Not bad but for some may be too far but I believe there is a shuttle.

Have fun and I am sure you will like it. :)

Agree with the others. Since your dates are available at the retro rates, I seriously doubt that any other hotel, including Super 8, would be cheaper. You just can't beat HoJo's retro rates! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

Very odd- when I went to put in dates it gave me $105+ a night.

We stayed at the HOJO once and personally didn't care for it. The bed was uncomfortable. Plus the housekeeper walked right in to our room after we had been checked in for a few hours.

Oops, I see you need an Entertainment book. Guess I should buy one!

We always stay at the Ramada Inn when we are not using our points. They recently renovated and are always having deals too.

Ok. Now some more dumb questions. I just purchased my Entertainment book online. Is there a certain code you have to use or link to go to to get the Entertainment rates?

Retro rates come and go quickly so call In-House Reservations 714-776-6120 ASAP and they can book you a room at the retro rate. You will need to show your entertainment card when checking in.

Also, wanted to point out, in case you don't, know retro reservations canceled prior to the arrival date will be charged 1 night's charge but mixed rate reservations will revert to the standard 48 hour cancellation policy.

That's what I thought, but when I made our booking recently with all retro rates I was told they had changed it again to cancelling up to 30 days before as they had decided that the new policy was too 'harsh'.

Wow, it’s nice to see that so many of you know a lot about our hotel and the “retro” rate! Thanks for all your help :thumbsup2 We always recommend calling our in-house reservations team to book rooms. They know everything there is to know about the hotel and the “retro’ rates, and will be happy to answer any question you may have. They can be reached at (714) 776-6120. You can also book online; the code for the Entertainment card is LPEC and LKEP. LPEC is the normal 15% discount and LKEP is the “retro” discount. Online if some days you are looking at are at the “retro” rate and some days are at the normal rate (mixed rate), only the LPEC code will work. Then you can call our in-house team to change some of the dates to the “retro” rate. Also, when you book through in-house they can give you a 30-day cancelation policy, instead of the non-cancelable one.

I hope this helps!

Exactly what I did :) We're very excited to stay with you!

I booked two rooms this week at the Retro Rate and was told that they both are fully cancelable until 30 days before scheduled arrival and changeable up to 48 hours prior to scheduled arrival.

We, too, are thinking about trying HoJo on our next trip, which looks like it may not happen until early 2013. :sad1:

Does anyone know when the dates for retro rates for the coming year are released (i.e. when will 2013 dates be announced)? I heard they go quickly, and I dont' want to miss out!

Thanks!

Unfortunately, the 2012 book/card that you just purchased won't be valid for your November dates. The 2012 one is only valid until October 31, 2012. The new 2013 book are effective as of November 1st, 2012 so that is the one that you will need for your November trip. If you don't want to purchase the entire book, you can just buy the 2013 card on e-bay for a few dollars, once those books come out. You only need to show a valid entertainment card at check-in....You don't need it to make the reservation. :)
