HOJO Info....from the source

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm assuming this renovation will be completed before my November trip. My girls are going to flip! party: Wow! I'm so glad I booked HoJo (based on rec's from this board!). Thanks HoJos and DIS! :thanks: :disrocks:

I agree it will be a bummer if it's down in the summer but at least the other pool will be up and "newly renovated". Who knows, it may have some nice surprises as well. One pool is better than none. We never choose a hotel because of the pool. We have access to a pool at home ....we never go to Disneyland to swim, we go for the park. I totally understand though how much fun the pool can be for some though.

A hot tub can be a deal breaker for us. We changed from the Carousel to the Tropicana last year because they didn't have a hot tub. DH really likes soaking after a day at the parks.

We also obviously go for the parks, but were on vacation and swimming is a part of our summer vacations! We always take a break in the middle of the day for a nice swim, dip in the hot tub.

It's something we'll have to look in to, and I'll have to discuss it with DH. See if the rate is really worth maybe not having a hot tub. Bummer.

Those changes sound awesome. We are visiting DL for the first time in July 2009. I really hope the renovations are complete by then. If not, we may choose to stay somewhere else, and this is the hotel we have decided on.

Yea if he loves it that much it would definitely something that could ruin the trip for him. I'm sorry Jen if my post seemed rude, I didn't mean for it to at all. When I read it over though about us not choosing a hotel for the pool I can understand if it came across that way. I guess that statement isn't all that true....I was very picky about our hotel in Hawaii and the pool. Why worry about the pool when there's a huge ocean 10 feet away. I'm a nut, I'll admit it. Anyway.....my apologies.

Oh no, not rude at all! :) No reason to apologize! Last year I didn't even go swimming or in the hot tub (I took a lot of naps LOL). But for these two guys of mine, they love their swimming!

I think this time it was a little more important then usual because this will be our first stay at Hojo's. Here I was telling my son about the kiddie pool and spray area, and how nice the pool and hot tub was there compared to some of the others. He was so excited! It was a big seller in us deciding to stay there.

Usually my biggest concern is location. I'm a gal that prefers as close a possible! LOL The pools and great rate was enough for us to give them a try. So it's disappointing to hear we may just get a pool like we could have had right across the street, but with no hot tub. But the rate is still really good, so I'm sure we'll still be trying the hotel. I am surprised they are doing this during a peak summer season though. To me it would make more sense to wait until a slow season to take your main pool area out of commision. :confused3

Mods: add me to the list of those wanting Lorealle back on the boards. I understand the rule, but none of her posts came remotely close to advertising. Nothing she ever said could possibly be construed as even promoting HOJO over another option. She is simply a great resource for the Disneyland area and HOJO in particular. Please let her post again.

this sounds exciting - I also wonder how long it will take to complete? we are going next year (yes long time away :( ) in October and this would be fantastic if it was all completed :)

Regarding Lorealle - Is there some way that the mods could have a Hotel section opened where each hotel that wishes to take part can have their own thread (this makes it fair) - making rules like only questions that are asked in that hotels thread can be replied to by the hotels?? then people wouldn't feel like they are spammed by advertising as it is one place? not that I feel spammed or anything but obviously someone has complained for them to change it. Just a thought.

In regards to this...if the boards won't (which is a great idea by the way) Lorealle did tell me yesterday she is working with her manager to have a message board set up on the HOJO website so questions can be answered there, people can write their own trip reports after staying at their hotel..etc etc. Sounds great to me. She said she'd let me know the details when it "happens".

I never ever felt like she or Jefferson Kim were advertising in any way at all. I really liked having them both here, I thought it was a great resource for all us Disers, it's really a shame that the mods feel differently. I hope that they are able to set up a board on their site, then we can still get our questions answered and get the amazing service we are used to from Lorealle!

I would like to add my voice--I never felt Lorealle was "advertising" and she was nothing but helpful! She always responded to posts--

I don't get why she was banned. What is the difference in what she did, as opposed to if any of us talk about our jobs, whatever they may be? And her posts were normally replies to those of us asking questions, which she so graciously answered. Anyway, hope she can come back. Miss all her info and insights!!:thumbsup2

I just wanted to add that when I called to make my reservations Lorealle happen to the answer the phone, she spent 45 minutes with me on the phone talking about Disneyland and other surrounding areas, answering tons of questions (non about the hotel in general) and I was very appreciative. I had mentioned how I had seen her on the disboards and it was nice to "meet" her.

Also been thinking about the pool thing, I will be bummed, but definately wouldn't change hotels over it. I thought the kiddie thing looked cool but it isn't something that we usually have at hotels. With all the great reviews and help from Lorealle I could never change, plus our rate is great!

it is up and running! Lorealle sent the link via email today, not sure if it's okay to post it but pm me if you want it

I just checked out the board...very cool of Lorealle to get that done!!

I would also like to be counted as someone who has never seen Lorealle's or Jefferson Kim's posts as advertising in any way!

Me too!::yes:: I thought it was so refreshing to actually have hotel operators who actually cared about what we consumers think of their property and cared enough to answer questions. We need more hotel operators like them, especially in DL. Some of the motels in DL have operators who are scary:scared1: in their lack of understanding good customer service and how to implement it. Bring back Lorealle and Jefferson Kim.:wizard:

Our guidelines are very clear that companies that are not associated with the site are not permitted to do customer service work here. HoJo Anaheim is not doing this to be nice, their doing this to generate business (that equals advertising). It's a problem we have to deal with constantly, with companies coming to the site looking to solicit business in any number of creative ways. The boards are as good as they are because real visitors post real information - not companies looking to schill their product. I'm sorry if this upsets anyone, but I can't have different rules for different forums, especially when it comes to things like this.

I hope you will understand, this is not a revenue issue for us - it's a site-wide guideline that I need to enforce.

Thanks,
Pete
