HOJO Hints & Tips

That's great news! I'll try to take some pictures and post an update when I get back. 10 more days...:cool1:

Dec 10-15 - We stayed in bldg #2 on the ground floor, balcony facing pool. Very quiet, no freeway noise. Kids played in both big pool and the kids' pool area. We watched the fireworks every night from the hot tub. The rooms were super clean, bathrooms clean. The beds were SO COMFY! I normally wake up stiff and sore in my own bed - this one was HEAVEN!!! I am so impressed with the HOJO! The only thing that I wish was that it was a smidgen closer and there was a good coffee place nearby (i didn't find one)... Otherwise, fabulous stay and we will definately stay there again!

PS - The staff is wonderful. My SIL had a room in building #3 that didn't come with a microwave (she didn't realize that it wasn't suppose to come with one). When she asked the front desk, they told her that it doesn't come with one, however the very next morning - they showed up at her door with ONE!

First let me say that this thread is full of great info!

We are booked for a NQQ1 room (Disney view,2 queens) in March. I was looking at the maps and was wondering if the top floors have the skylight that I have read about. Also, is there a big difference on how well we will be able to see the fireworks from different floors? Should I put a request in with the hotel for a room on a higher floor?

I've never been in those rooms, but that's my understanding, that the top floor rooms have the "skylight."

Yep! The top floor rooms have a skylight which we really like but we are up bright & early anyways. The early morning light does bother some people. We like it because the rooms seems "bigger" & obviously brighter. :) We have stayed on the top floor a couple of times now.
We have never watched the fireworks from the room but I would assume that the higher floors have a better view? I am sure that another DISer cam answer that for you. You could certainly call & ask....the staff is so incredibly helpful & they will steer you in the right direction!:thumbsup2

Does anyone know if there's a toaster somewhere in the hotel? I love to have nutella on toast for breakfast () and was wondering if it would be possible to make at HoJo. Most hotels I've stayed at in the recent past have had them, but I believe most had breakfasts offered, so I'm not sure how likely it is.
Thanks!

Thanks for all the tips! I was wondering if anyone has used the gift shop to set up surprises in the room?

Are you asking if they have Disney themed merchandise to set up a nice "toy display" of sorts for your kids in the room? I think so, but can't tell you what it includes. I know DH bought some light-up Disney-themed flashlight/glow sticks (battery operated, so they don't fade away like normal glow sticks). They had Mickey heads on them.

I walked in briefly to the gift shop but was more focused on the food/candy so I'm not sure the extent of the Disney-themed selection.

The gift shop has a decent selection of Disney merchandise. I remember seeing t-shirts, post cards, magnets, autograph books, some toy sets, beach towels, key chains, etc. If you want anything specific you may want to pick it up before you go, but there is a good selection of items to fill in what you may be missing. I don't remember exactly, but the prices didn't seem to be too out of line from other places.

I don't know what I'm looking for yet. Im taking my three year old for the first time and want to make it as special as can. The front desk mentioned they could do balloons or something but I had to go when my baby woke up from her nap. Just curious if anyone else had done it.
