Ok, so the days we're going ARE entertainment rates May 6-12. Saw the 59.00 rate 2 days ago but didn't book..grrrr. NOW it's gone (not that 69.00 isn't good) I thought I'd just keep checking the website (hojoanaheim.com) to see if anyone cancels. Has anyone been able to do this?

Also, I JUST found on Expedia.com the standard room for 119.00. Half of that is the 59.00. Can I reserve online through Expedia and then when I check in show my entertainment card and get the half off rate?

The best thing to do is call in house reservations, 714-776-6120. They will not be able to give you the entertainment rate off an Expedia booking. My advice is take the $69 room and just keep checking for a cancellation.

I did take the advice from another post and called and spoke to in house reservations, the gal was really helpful. But I blew it and didn't reserve when I should have...my bad!

I will keep checking online to see if someone happens to cancel and grab that if I can. But really I can't complain too much...69.00 a night is great!!

Do you know much about the buildings? We will be in building 1.

Are you sure you are in building 1? I thought building 2 was the only one with the $69.00 deluxe rooms? Do you have 2 queens?

We stayed in building 1 for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We booked the standard 2 queen room for $59. It was fine and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, but we prefer building 2 which overlooks the pool ($69 deluxe rooms). It's quieter in our experience. Building 1 rooms are right by the freeway and our room was definitely noisier. The room we checked into we had to move from because the a/c wasn't working. So the room we got moved to only had one sink, which was kind of a pain. Everytime we have stayed in building 2 or any of the other buildings we had 2 sinks.

Actually I'm NOT sure...hehehehe!! And I JUST found that May 1st - 7th has the standard double rooms for 59.00. I modified the reservation and going with that as it is only 407.35 including taxes!! Not sure WHERE we'll be now...bldg 3,4,5,6 I guess...hoping for the closest to the street...I'm still not 100% sure about the walk...I'm guessing getting the parks will be EASY but maybe grab ART for the trip home!!

What are "entertainment" rates and how do I get them????

Its the rate given to Entertainment Card holders. Anyone can get one, you buy an Entertainment book [frequently sold by school clubs, sports teams, etc.] or can be purchased online. The books have 1/2 coupons for a number of services, $$ of a purchase, etc. You can buy any edition regardless of where you live...which means if you want the Anaheim book b/c you'll use the restaurants, and you live in Butte, no problem! [you will likely have to look online to buy a non-local book]. You do NOT need to buy the Anaheim book to use that card at HOJO, [and many other travel related or national brand products] so if you want coupons for your local dry cleaner you may want to get the local book. The books run fall to fall, if I remember but can be bought at anytime during the year. Sometimes there are discounts for books that are partially into their use year. Good Luck!

Does anyone, (I know someone does) know where the kid's suites are located. as in which building?

Thanks, probably the farhest from the street. We plan to eat at Mimi's and head over, so it's no big deal where our room is I guess.

To book on that site do you need to enter an entertainment card # or anything like that? I don't have an entertainment card and was wondering if I wanted to see those rates if I needed a card. Thanks!

You don't need to have the card when you book, no. But upon check-out, you do. They post the entertainment rate dates here as they become available. And you can usually get the card for cheap off eBay without having to purchase the entire book. I got mine for '09 for $1.50. But I don't believe you can get the ent. rate when booking through travel sites.

The code for the entertainment rate is SD50, however, it never lets me book the actual reservation when I use it. It takes me all the way to the end, and says something about the rate not being available. So I always just call in house reservations now and save the time! :goodvibes

Important note for those new to the Entertainment Card rate.

ONLY call the 714 number to contact the people there at the hotel in Anaheim, and ONLY ask for In House Reservations. And ONLY call during Pacific time business hours; don't even call at their lunchtime.

If you call outside business hours, you'll likely be shunted to the 800 number operators, who have a whole different idea of what the Ent Rate is, who WILL require the card number at the time, and, well, just aren't as helpful as In House Reservations at the hotel sitting there on Harbor. :)

Also, hojoanaheim.com has discussion boards you can click to from their homepage, and they have a discussion of all the discounts, including the Entertainment Rate. Very helpful!

I am going the same dates. We wanted a Kid's Suite, but they weren't available two weeks ago. Instead, I made a res for a double queen and prayed for someone to cancel! Today I called, and got the Kid's Suite. Just keep calling!

EDIT: And Bumbershoot is right, ONLY talk to in-house reservations!

No need for ART! It's a really easy 8 minute walk back to HoJo's. I think it's quicker to walk it than to wait for and get on and off the ART bus.

Agree! I think HOJO is the last ART stop on the way home. It'd be quicker to walk.

Building 1, freeway side

On the contrary, Build 1 is the closest building to the entrance of the entire Hojo complex. We just jay walk across Manchester and Mimi's is right there. Much closer than being in the back of the complex in Building 2. (No offense to those who like building 2; we just really like Build 1.) :goodvibes
