HoJo for the Disney part of the trip, but where for the LA part?

Hello!

We have decided to stay at the HoJo Anaheim this upcoming July! The hotel looks awesome and the price is incredible! Now we have hit a road block though, the first 7 nights of the trip we will be in LA (or that area). There are so many hotels to choose from in so many areas, we can't decide where to stay! We have a guidebook which is great, but it's still so hard! Should we use priceline, hotwire??

Any of you locals who could help, it would be GREAT! Same for anyone else that has gone recently!!

I dont know if you want to stay near the major attractions but I have recently stayed at theCourtyard by Marriott San Fernando Valley. The hotel has just recently been remodeled. Paid I believe 149/night and the room had a mini fridge and micro which saved us a little on not having to eat every meal out. The beds were so comfortable. It is right on Ventura Blvd and the 101.
