Hojo entertainment rates (new October dates!)

Hi all,
I have been checking out the entertainment rates for Howard Johnson Anaheim--and just realized they added some new October dates. I have decided to take my girls for the Halloween Party for the first time--so I locked in our dates last night.

Here are the Entertainment dates as of today:

May 2011:: 20, 25, 26, 30
June 2011:: 30
July 2011:: N/A
August 2011:: 27, 28, 29, 30, 31
September 2011:: N/A
October 2011:: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27
November 2011:: 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17
December 2011:: 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15
January 2012:: N/A
February 2012:: N/A
March 2012:: N/A
April 2012:: N/A

*For those not in the know, an entertainment card can be purchased at many different retail outlets. I bought mine off of ebay for 5.00! When you reserve your room online (no need to call in house reservations) you just put in the coupon code LKEP in the promotional code box.
 
I'm glad you snagged your days before Hojo closes the dates.
 
We booked yesterday too!

We weren't able to get the Kids Suite for October (we settled for the $69 room) but we did book the Kids Suite for December! So excited! :cool1:

That is it. Just buy it from a trusted seller. You can typically get one for around 1.00.

We have stayed at Hojos using the Entertainment card before, and the only issue is that the dates disappear fast from the website, as they only sell a certain percentage of their rooms at that rate. I had planned on making a reservation in early October originally, but the dates disappeared too fast for me to make reservations. I thought that was it for October, but when I checked back this week there were the new dates up.

My only advice is to pay extra for either a Deluxe or Premium room, as these rooms are much quieter and away from the freeway. I stuck with the Premium room (79.00 per night) because that is what I got the first time and it was very quiet and comfortable. My daughters enjoyed a view of the Matterhorn and we stayed on the 7th floor (top floor). The beds are VERY comfortable. When I hear bad things about Hojos it is typically because people get a standard room (freeway facing).

Honestly, it would be best for you to call and ask. I am pretty sure that would be a case by case basis depending on how busy they are and other factors (room type, how many guests, etc.) It also depends on if all of your nights are booked at the ENT rate or if you have a mixed reservation.

It never hurts to ask about your specific situation. I believe the Hojo manager addressed this question in a post after the new rules took effect. Can't find it right now, but I think the idea is that if at least one of the dates in your revised reservation is the same (for example changing from Oct. 13-15 to Oct. 15-17), then no fee applies. If you are changing to completely different dates, say from Oct. 2-5 to Oct. 13-15, then I believe a charge applies since it counts as canceling a booking and making a new one.

•$59 per night + tax for a Standard Room with one king bed [NK1], a Standard Room with two oversized double beds [NDD1] or a Standard Room two queen beds [NQQ3]
•$69 per night + tax for a Deluxe Room with two queen beds [NQQ2]
•$79 per night + tax for a Premium Disney View Room with two queen beds [NQQ1]
•$99 per night + tax for a Kids Suite with one king bed, twin bunk beds and a pull-out sleeper [SNK2]

This kills me, the dates for DS's birthday are up now, but we aren't planning to go for Halloween Time this year because of our August trip to WDW!!
 
I know the sooner I book the better, as this is unlikely to last but... what do you think my window of oppurnity to book October 12-16 with this is? I won't be able to book with absolutely certainty until mid-June, and this rate has a non-cancel policy. Can I hold out help, or should I be realistic and look for other deals?

Well, I booked the first week in October (3 of my 5 night visit came up) but they were only available for a week or so, maybe 2. I do not think that they will hold out until June. Mine is a "mixed rate" so I still get the 48 hour cancel policy and did not have to put money down.

I booked Oct 18-20 yesterday and was told that they now have a 30 day cancellation policy for the retro rates instead of the customary 48 hours for their regular rates. I didn't have to put any money down.

OK. This is interesting. Does that mean if you cancel more than 30 days out, you can do so without penalty, or will they still charge you the first night's rate?

I was told that there was no penalty for cancelling more than 30 days out. It sounds like they are trying this policy as a compromise. The rep mentioned how people were booking and cancelling pretty often so they changed their policy.

Well this is better than a penalty of the first night's rate if you cancelled at all after booking which was the new policy. This new new policy at least lets you book way far out still and firm up things by 30 days out.

Thanks! I e-mailed HoJo about this, and got the same response!

Which brings me to my next question... I have just ordered the Entertainment Guide (I meant ot buy one last fall, but never got around to it, so I didn't mind spending the extra $$ to get the guide for the summer season). Do you need to have your membership card number when you call in your booking, or do you only need the physical card when you check-in?
