If i have a room booked at the courtyard and a friend has one at the HOJO could the kids use each pool ? or would they be limited to just the one at their hotel ???
They will be restricted to their own hotel. When you check in, you are given wristbands that are good at your own hotel's water play area and pool. Theoretically those wristbands can/will be checked when entering the hotel's water areas.
When we stayed at HOJO there were not wrist bands, just hotel keys. I could see that as a thing at Courtyard though as there's is more of a water prak. The HOJO one is neat, but it's not anything large.

i was just thinking it would be nice for the kids to have 2 places since the day we get in we wouldnt be going to the parks just spending time at the pool !! change of scenery after dinner type thing !!!
When we were at HoJo in November, we had wristbands while at the pool area. You got in with a keycard, but there were workers who walked through to take a look.
We are going to do a split stay in July so we can have both--do a comparison. We've really loved Hojos in the past (and the price point is definitely better), so it will be interesting to see if we think the extra cost of the Courtyard is worth it. (It's also a test run to see if we stay at the Courtyard for our annual October trip with my in laws, with whom we usually stay at the Grand Californian. DGC has just gotten so expensive that we want an alternative with fun water features-- we do a large break at the middle of the day-- that is close but doesn't break the bank!)
in the past i have stayed at park vue inn, candy cane, red lion, bestwestern inn and mini suites, ramada maingate. I think the courtyard will be step up from those !
having 4 kids with us this time i think the water park will be needed !!!

How many are in the group, total? The Courtyard rooms sleep 6, so you could put 6 names on that hotel room and then everyone would be able to get into the waterpark.
The other option would be a split stay like a PP mentioned above.

Yeah, we were not excited that wristbands have been introduced. We stayed for New Year's and again in March. The wristbands for pool and water play area access were introduced between our two stays. It didn't matter to us since we ended up not using either, but DH doesn't like the idea of being stuck wearing a wristband for the duration of his stay.
Huh, just read GatorChris's post. We were there in November too. We definitely weren't given the wristbands until our March stay. I wonder if it was so new that we just ended up with check-in people who forgot to give them to us/tell us about it in November and December/January. Oh well, obviously we didn't go to the pool any of those times anyway.
Lol, now I'm scratching my head wondering about my faulty memory. I'm just convinced we've only had the wristbands one time, but maybe going so often all the trips have blurred together in my mind or I just didn't pay attention knowing we weren't planning to swim.
We stayed at HoJo in November and was issued wrist bands and said they brought it in at summer because they had non hotel guests using the pools
Also stayed at courtyard on the same trip and again was asked how many in our room and was issued wrist bands and told if we cut them off to bring the cuts ones back to get new ones
