I am so super excited about my trip to DLR (staying at HOJO's ) in two weeks, my favorite pastime these days is planning every detail of our trip.

I have yet another question about Mimi's Cafe:
We will only have one day in DL so I want to get to the park before it opens. I know the park is a good ten minutes walk from HOJOs, so what I need to figure out is how long does it take to have breakfast at Mimis. Meaning:
1) How long does it take to get a table?
2) How long does it take for food to arrive?
3) Is the service fast (taking orders, bringing checks, etc...)?

It's just my dh, ds3, and myself. So I am trying to figure out what time to leave the room to have breakfast and get to DLR up to 30 minutes before it opens (9 am). I hope 8:00 should be good.

Thanks for your help.

I would give yourselves a little bit longer than the 20 minutes or so you are allowing for breakfast. Don't forget the 10 minute walk to the gates from MiMi's. So, if you want to be at the gates at 8:30 am for a 9:00 opening time, then I would plan on being at MiMi's at 7:45 am at the latest.

Let me start by saying I have never even been to that Mimi's before :)....(maybe they are super quick at bringing breakfast there?), but I would allow WAY more time than 20 minutes. If I wanted to be at the parks by 8:30, I would allow an hour just to be at Mimi's....

If you want fast breakfast mcdonalds is on the way to the gates.

McDonalds isn't a fast breakfast there. We stopped there the other day and the line up was crazy. It was so busy we just walked out...it would have been better to go to Mimis!!

if it were me (and it will be in 5 days :goodvibes), our plan, first day in the parks-monday, is that we will be at mimis by 8:15 am so we can be out and at the at the gates by 9:20 for a 10 am opening...i would definately give yourselves an extra 1/2 hour...might as well have a relaxing breakfast and be at the gates early...mimi's is awesome, as for time to get food/table, it just depends on the day and how busy they are...so definately go earlier!!!have an awesome trip

You need at least an hour probably closer to an hour and a half. You could also try Millie's which is right next to Mimi's. We were seated right away at Millie's and were in and out in about 45-60 min. Food was good too!

Denny's is open 24 hours so you could go way early. Personally I would maybe grab a muffin and coffee/juice at Mimi's to go and eat as I walked to the gate. I have never been to THAT Mimi's but the one in my town takes FOREVER especially for breakfast.

Your calcs are a bit off. :)

Okay, so you want to get to DL's gates 30 minutes before they open. You also want to eat at Mimi's. The problem is that you aren't alone in this grand scheme. Many other DL-goers are thinkin' just like you! They're all doing the mental math to figure out when is the best time to get to Mimi's so they can go straight to the gates before they open.

Get to Mimi's at 7:00-7:15 a.m. It takes about 45 minutes to eat once seated - their service is pretty predictable. If there already is a waiting list, then you have time to eat and still get to the gate on time.

And maybe even enough time to go back to HoJo's in case a potty break is needed. :thumbsup2

Every time we stay at HOJO we eat at mimi's in the morning. We usually head there around 7 or 7:15 and have plenty of time to eat and get to the park before they open (8:00). If you go early like that there usually isnt a whole lot of people there. Its usually a little busier on the weekends though, but not too bad.
