Melanie: "And you'll be happy with him?"
Georgie: "I'll try to be. But honestly, I don't exactly remember what happiness feels like."
Melanie: "And you'll be happy with him?"
Georgie: "I'll try to be. But honestly, I don't exactly remember what happiness feels like."
Melanie: She bit her lip again. She'd hurt her more than she'd thought. "You'll know."
Georgie: She nodded, but there was a hopeless look on her face.
Melanie: "You'll push through it, I promise." She laid a hand on her shoulder.
Georgie: "Please don't."
Melanie: She sighed. "You can't let yourself lose hope. Please, Georgie. You'll be all right."
Georgie: "I lost hope a long time ago,"
Melanie: "For your daughters."
Georgie: "They're the only reason I'm still alive. Them, and Corbin, I guess. He says he won't leave me, but I'm not so sure." She pushed her wavy hair out of her face and sighed. "You don't hate me, do you?"
Melanie: "No, Georgie, I don't."
Georgie: "Promise? Cross your heart and everything? Even though I did all those horrible things to you?"
Melanie: "Of course, you did nothing to me."
Georgie: "How can you say that? I-I did so much to you." She stared at and listened to the Melanie that looked the most normal in the swarm of Melanies she could see. Others were telling her how much they hated her, or just screaming. She kept telling herself they were all in her head.
Melanie: "I'm all right, though."
Georgie: Tears ran down her face. "What's wrong with me?"
Melanie: "You need to relax."
Georgie: "I can't, Mel. I can't. Don't you see how stressful my life is? I have three daughters I need to take care of, one is six, the others are almost as mentally unstable as I am, and I don't even have a job! And you still have no idea how hard it is to live with schizophrenia. I can't relax." She put her face in her hands.
Melanie: "I know how it is. I know, and I wish I could help."
Georgie: "You don't know, that's the thing. No one does. I'm so sorry, Melanie." She threw her arms around her and cried.
