My niece, 27, has just been diagnosed with Hodgkin's. I went with her Thursday to the Cancer Care Center, where she had her first appointment with an oncologist. She's still having a bunch of tests done, but they think it's stage 2. Prayers and good thoughts would be appreciated.

My cousin has Hodgkins. She is stage 2. She is doing well now. She ended up needing a stem cell transplant which seems to be doing well. I believe the cure rate is in the 90% range.

Prayers and good wishes. Please update and let us know how things are going.

my prayers are with you all! Remember a lot is being done with Hodgkins. I talked to a lady the other day who was diagnosed with it almost 20 years ago and still living cancer free.

My cousin just got a clear pet scan.

:woohoo::hug:, to Op, I hope that your neice gets the treatment she needs, I know that she will be glad she has you there for moral and physical support

Thoughts and prayers headed her way. The above poster is correct, it has a very good success rate for treatment. ((HUGS)) Wishing you and your family strength in the days ahead and a wonderful, healthy outcome!

Hi Guys, OP here, thanks for replying to my post. It actually turned out to be stage 4, which was a shocker. It has spread to her lung, but not in her groin or bone marrow. She is undergoing chemo now; she's had 3 treatments already, and will have 9 more, more or less. She's going to have another PET scan next week to see how it's going. Her hair is starting to fall out pretty fast now, but she has such a good and positive attitude, I think she is going to be fine! Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it!

Thinking of your niece and what a blessing it must be for her to have family near by that can support her during this time. So sorry she is having to face this health challenge.

So sorry to hear it was Stage 4. My prayers to your niece and your family.

Hi everyone. Thanks a lot for the well wishes, it means so much. My niece had another PET scan yesterday, and the results were GOOD. The large tumors are now small, and the small ones are now gone! I feel so happy right now. She might only need 4 more chemo treatments!

Prayers for your niece. She is blessed to have someone so caring as you in her life.

Good about the report. I am having a scan on friday and I hope I get good news too like your niece.

Blessings to her.

That's great news. I hope she keeps improving. :)

Would you mind if I ask what the onset symptoms were?

My hubbie went into the doc tonight for itchy skin, thinking it's an allergy that won't quit, but the doc took blood and is sending him for a chest xray to rule out Non Hodgkin lymphoma. Not what we were expecting!

Best wishes to all of you dealing with this illness!

Hi, Poohbear, good luck to your husband. She did have very itchy skin. Her legs were all dug up from her scratching. She also had swollen lymph nodes, and a cough, because it had spread to her lungs. I hope with your husband, it turns out to be nothing but allergies! Keep us posted.

Luvmarypoppins, I'll be thinking of you on Friday. Good luck!

Thanks Sky Blue. It sounds like we won't get results until the follow-up appointment in 10 days. Seems like a long time to wait.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to get the itchy skin more manageable?

It's mostly around the feet and legs, sometimes thighs. We've tried cortizone, with minimal relieve, various oatmeal skin products, non-scented body wash and laundry soaps, benadryl (makes him drowsy), and cold compresses.

Sounds like your niece has a great support in you!

My prayers are with your niece. I just found out I may have lymphoma, but need further testing is needed to know for sure. So I will keep your family in my prayers.
