Who in their right minds would have a party on a game night? :confused3 Who cares if they didn't know there would be finals...not an excuse. That's twisted. ;)

It's an easy choice for me, but it sounds like you are having trouble. Good luck in your decision. Blood might be thicker than ice, but if you go to the game you might see blood on the ice.

Go Wings!!!!

It's not the actual graduation; it's her party. Go to the game.

No contest, go to the grad party. I love sports however family is more important. But that is just me.

Now if it was the final game, I might be swayed.:lmao:

NOt a Wings fan by any means but I'd take the game. I'd do as others suggested and try to make both. I'm sure she will understand.

One of the perks of working for a boss I despise in a job I hate is that sometimes I get invited to neat sporting events to entertain clients. I sort of knew I might get invited to a Red Wings game sometime during the playoffs, but nothing came up. Well, last night the Wings clinched their way into the Stanley Cup Finals (yay Wings!). This morning I get a call from boss that I hate asking if I'd be available to go to the second finals game on Sunday. I regretfully had to say I couldn't. Why? Becuase my husband's youngest sister, the sister we really like, the one who was a cute little 12-year-old junior bridemaid in our wedding, the one who we actively campaigned to send to our Alma Mater, the one who eventually convinced her parents to shell out the bucks for our Alma Mater, is having her high school graduation party. Not only that, her parents were nice enough to invite my parents who will basically have no one besides myself to talk to there.
So, I told DH about this and he is freaking out. He says I should ask to go to the game, that Red Wings tickets in the Stanley Cup Finals are too important. I say he's silly, and family comes first.

Decide for us, Disboards. (poll coming)
Based on all this, I'd go to the party. But then again, I'm not a hockey fan.:rolleyes1

I would definitely go to the game. But then I cut my own rehearsal dinner short so I could make it to our hockey game. I'm not a fan of either team but it is the finals.

This is my thought too.

Family comes first. I put myself in your shoes and my nieces would care and so would I.

As an Avalance fan, I would say skip the Red Wings game. ;) Of course I am still waiting for the Avs to play their 2008-09 season. :headache:

Seriously though, the Red Wings are awesome again this year and I hope they do well! :cheer2:

Unless you think the sister will suffer emotional distress at your absence, I'd go to the game. I think most family members would understand, particularly, if you decide to "celebrate" with her on your own.

You won't miss anything except the Red Wings losing. :rolleyes1
Don't count your Pens before they hatch! ;)

Good call!:thumbsup2

I got a wedding invite a few years ago for DH's cousin. The wedding was going to be in June- ugh, hello, that is still hockey season! So, I calculated how long the playoffs would be, then the finals- by my calculations, I responded NO!!

That year the Flyers did make it to the finals and I stayed home and got to see the game......... and DH went to the wedding dateless. He could take the game or leave it. He did not care.

Priorities! Some people just do not have them:lmao::rotfl2::laughing:
