Hmmm, is having a motherly voice a compliment?????

I just called my DD at work to see how she was feeling today. After being switched around and around and around, I finally got cut off. She called me back wanting to know if I had called her. She said that whoever was trying to find her for me didn't know who the call was from, but she thought it was personal and the lady had a motherly voice. At least I was called a lady, but I just wondered what does a motherly voice sound like????

I would call it a HUGE compliment. I always loved the sounds of those TV mother voices - like June Cleaver. So warm and comforting. I, on the other hand, am not as lucky. Half the time people call and ask if they can speak to MY mother. Hello?! I AM the mother. Jeez.

Oh that's so sweet Boots! I definitely think a motherly voice is a good thing. I doubt very much if I'd ever receive that type of comment... my voice would probably be better described as irritating. If I ever find a genie in a bottle, one of my first wishes will be a new voice!!

That's a good thing, Boots. I'm sure I don't but my neices and nephews have told me I have a teacher's voice especially when I'm subbing.......not sure if that's a compliment!!!

Mother = warm and nurturing. So, yes, I think it's a good thing. Mind you, my mother sounds cold and official on the phone, so that's not always the case.
