HM dooney - bought in Jan bottom peeling---UPDATE

So when I was at WDW in Jan, I bought the HM Dooney crossbody bag. I have only used it a handful of times because the color is peeling off the corners. I am leaving for DLR on the 18th. I was wondering if I bring this with can i get it replaced or do I contact Dooney about this? Thank you for your help! i really appreciate all of you and your wisdom
 
At 11 months after purchase, I think contacting Dooney is your best option. I doubt the DLR will do anything at this point, especially since you purchased at WDW.

If memory serves, Dooney has a one year guarantee on its products and after the one year will do repairs and replacements for a fee. So it is probably in your best interest to contact them before the year expires.
 
I had a problem with a D&B purchased at the D23 Expo. The local D&B store told me to contact D&B directly. The salesperson said that other customers had reported good resolutions to their Disney bag problems.
 

Because of all the issues with the HM bags, I was able to return my HM bag 15 months after I bought from the Vault in DTD. They gave me a merchandise card for the full purchase price.
 
Wow! I'm sad to hear the issues. My D&B Disneyland bag is now 5 years old and still going strong. I hope they haven't changed quality and that's why people are having issues :(
 
I've been hearing poor reports specifically of the HM theme Dooney and Burke bags from the original satchels to the cross body now. It's really sad because it;s such an awesome design and most D&B items wear very well.
Just another reason I can't justify it right now :(

I wonder if they changed to production process on these specifically or something about the material itself causing issues specifically with this design..
 
Yeah, I heard about the problem with these as well. I wonder if it was a bad production batch. I haven't felt the leather myself, but I heard it felt brittle and not like the other Dooney bags. I have really old Dooney bags that are holding up great, so it isn't all of them.
 
I have three other Disney Dooneys (including the new 60th) and I have had no problems at all with any of those and I use them all the time! I see the new HM Dooneys have a leather patch at the bottom to help with this. I did email dooney but haven't had time to call them yet! Hoping I can get this figured out! I'm just concerned that I bought it at WDW so I wasn't sure is DLR would do anything about it
 
I just got off the phone with Dooney and I have to mail my purse back to them for them to decide if they are going to repair it or replace it. So hopefully this process doesn't take too long!
 
My best friend has the HM Dooney cross body and is having the same problem. She was told to contact D&B directly about it. The new ones have black reinforcements on the bottom so they must know this was a problem.

Good luck! I haven't done a Dooney repair, but I have done a Coach repair. It did take them awhile, I hope Dooney is faster!
 
I had a problem with one of my Disney Dooney Bourke bags and I sent it in for repair (one of the rivets in the Dooney name plate fell out). I was nervous about the whole process, but they were terrific - fixed it up and sent it back to me. I highly recommend it.
