I just went to pick up dd at a birthday party -
as I pull up all 11 girls are running screaming into the house -
I couldn't tell if it was a funny silly scream or a sad hysterical scream...
well it appears it was the later of the two...
they were playing in the side yard and oneof the neighborhood boys came by with his dog - he slipped the leash over a fire hydrant :confused3 (a wet one) and it let loose
the dog ran in the road, someone hit is and then took off.
:(
poor kids...

:confused3 Those poor kids witnessing that happening. Can you imagine the poor kid whose dog it was he must fell terrible. And about the @$%^&*())_ that hit the dog and kept going. Words cannot express my feelings for them. A bad situation all the way around. :guilty:

Oh, those poor kids! I saw my neighbors dog get hit by a car when we were kids- she tried to follow us to school and just sat in the road, a car came over the hill... fortunately the driver stopped. It was heartbreaking.

I am sorry the kid had to see that.

My SIL tied their puppy to the mailbox when she went to get my nephew off the school bus. My nephew saw the school bus hit his dog. Luckily the puppy's only injury was a broken front leg. The vet cast it and it was good as new. The puppy was funny with the cast on. If she wanted your attention she would hit you with the cast on your shin. Boy did that hurt.

Apparently - accordning to DD - 11 this cute little pooch got back up - tried to walk a few steps and then laid back down and died :(

A little girl that attended my church was riding her bike one evening. Her dog was tagging along, got out in the road and was hit by a car. The little girl was so distraught she ran out into the road to check on it and was struck by another car. They were both killed instantly. It was just heartbreaking. I always tell my girls if our dog gets off it's leash and runs into the road to never run into the road after her.

Sorry the girls had to witness that. :grouphug:

What a loser. (the car person) How sad...:(

The poor dog!! I wish one of the kids could of got the license plate number of the jerk that hit the poor dog! Those poor kids no doubt will have nightmares now over this. Sad all around.

I am so sorry those girls had to witness that. And that poor dog. I cannot say what I would do to this jerk that hit the dog if I found him.
One night, I looked out my window and saw something laying on the side of the road. I thought it was a dog or something. When another car came past and they headlights hit it, I saw that this thing was a deer. I told my parents and someone must have called the cops because once I got back into my room, there was a cop outside. The cop shot the deer two or three times. The last time he shot the deer, I saw it jump into the air and then he fell back to the ground. My dad went out to complain to the cop about shooting the deer right outside of the houses. The cop came up and talked to us. He told me that the deer wouldn't just be thrown away, the meat would be used for food and the head would be mounted and sold to raise money for "deer population management". The cop must have thought I was stupid and didn't know what that meant.

How sad for those kids. :guilty:

We had a dog when I was a kid. My sister was around 5 or 6 years old and decided to take him for a walk without telling anyone. The dog got loose from her and a garbage truck hit him and the driver just took off. A few people who lived nearby saw my sister out in the street trying to pull the dog by his leash and they felt so sorry for her and came and took care of it and brought her home. I honestly have no idea what my parents were doing that she could have gotten away with that. :confused3

poochie And about the @$%^&*())_ that hit the dog and kept going. [/QUOTE said:
The sick part is, if there was any damage to the car, if the guy stopped and was enough of a jerk to do this, he could have gotten the kids family name and had his insurance co. sue for damages. In most states, if your dog gets hit by a car, the owner of the dog is responsible for damages to the car if the town has a leash law.

This happened to our puppy when I was a kid. The puppy died.It was a neighbor who hit it. I knew who it was so I went and bought a bumper sticker that said "I love my dog" and stuck it on his car. He NEVER apologized.

Those poor kids. What a shame.

When I was 12, I was riding my bike and my dog tagged along and when I crossed the street my dog was tagging along and got hit by a car. My neighbors witnessed it and tried to scream at the driver to stop after he did it. He stopped for a second then kept on going with a screaming little 12 year old girl (me), left crying on the side of the road holding a dead dog. It took me a long time to get over that. :guilty:

That's terrible. I'm so sorry that the girls had to witness that sad occurence :(
