History of DINGS Fares for Orlando

I know some here have gotten their credit cards refunded, but I have not been successful in doing that.

The trick to getting your CC refunded is that the lower priced flight must be the SAME exact flight you originally booked under. Since you are not changing fare type (like internet rate to DING rate which are both non-refundable fares) they will credit the CC.

If the flight is different from the original one than they will give you a credit good from 1 yr of the original date the higher fare was booked. This credit can be extended longer than than 1 yr period for another 6 months but you have to call their CS first.

Can someone keep an eye out for Dings for BWI to MCO for Aug. for me? Our travel dates are Aug. 12-19th.. Sunday to Sunday. But we can't download ding at work but I work close enough to home that if some one shoots me a message or posts it here I can run home and book it.. and use that time as my lunch. Appreciate someone helping me out. We don't have any airfare yet and I'm getting ants in my pants.

M Roberts (that is my brother in laws name lol). I booked a one way flight with SW May 7th, it went down on May 25 (give or take a day). My friend held the flight on her comp while I went in cancelled mine and rebooked with the credit still leaving me $140. credit. So yes you can do it!!! I am waiting to do it for my return as I booked that May 17 and am waiting for some Aug deals to come out....LOL!!!!

woo hoo booked our flights for August!! PVD to MCO 8/23 - 8/28 $133 RT per person including taxes ($59 down, $54 return)! I have gotten lower Ding's before, but I am happy with this price especially since my LUV vouchers paid for the whole trip down and I only needed to pay for the flights home, $277.xx

I love Southwest!!

I need BDL (Hartford to MCO) and the fares right now through August STINK! July kept coming up at $44 or $49! I do not feel like driving almost 2hrs to get to Manchester... I hope the fares get better for September! But then again, its still early! Now, if I book a DING fare and its like $60 or $70 each way (we have 6 tickets) and say the DING drops to $44 or $49, can I get a credit? Or can I cancel and rebook or something? I see different things being said here.

My experience with them, since I do just what you said A lot is that if you don't change flights (in other words you just rebook at the lower rate for the same flights) then you can get a credit back on your credit card. If you change flights because the fare went down, but the flight you orginally had isn't available then you would get traveless funds for future travel. It is hard to know exactly, but anyone that has written in (that I know of) has always gotten a credit back on their card. Just write a polite note asking if you could have your funds refunded since you don't anticipate traveling in the future. Or just save it for another quick trip!

That's a really high ding. They were coming up at 49 and up last month, and for July I booked ON the Southwest.com site for about 90 dollars rt including taxes WITHOUT a ding.

I can't believe the Hartford to Orlando Ding just came in the same as the internet price? Some prices were higher. Then if you actually went through the process, most flights were unavailable! What's up with that? SW is not on my good list today!!

Yes, you can rebook as many times as you want with SW without penalty. You will receive a credit that can be used for a future flight. This Ticketless Travel Funds (TTF) are transferable and good for a year from the date of purchase. I beleive the confusion is that sometimes you can get the balance refunded to your credit card, sometimes you can't.
