Just wondering if the Kodak "True Colors" pre-show movie was still there at "Honey, I shrunk the Audience".
I read a while back that it was changed or was going to be changed... or something.

Is it still there? And if not, what is there now?

Thanks in advance.

No, the wonderful "True Colors" slide-show has been gone for several years now. It was actually presented using an entire "arrary" of Kodak Carousel Slide Projectors (no real MOTION was possible)... kind of "old tech" for Epcot, but it was very effective.

Its been replaced by a (somewhat) similar Kodak video presentation.

I relate it to the "new" IMAGINATION attraction.

They "updated" and took something that was very GOOD and made it "average" or less.

The new preshow has several "small stories" told in still pictures.
And, although they are not "awful"... they are VERY CONTRIVED.

I thought the former "True Colors" show had more genuine emotion... and that wonderful arrangement of the "True Colors" song.

If I was Kodak, I'd ask Disney to stop "updating" their pavillion... so far, its been less than successful.

Wel damn, that just plain sucks. :(

Not too many things make me misty eyed, but that little pre-show sure did.

The original pre-show was very nice. It was one of those little Disney things that made you think: That was really well done, and it's only the sponsor plug prior to the attraction! :earsboy:

Yes, it WAS one of those GREAT little "extras."

BTW, I occasionally DO get to hear the "True Colors" audio track from that former pre-show on one or two of the "Internet Radio Stations" that play Disney park themes on www.LIVE365.com

I wish you could by this on a DVD or something. I tried searching Google Video and all I got was that video with Cyndi and Capt. Lou.

i loved that song from the old pre show. i have tried to catch it on sorcerer radio at live 365.com but havent been able to yet. the phil collins version is ok but the one sung by the kids really did make me want to tear up.
i wish there was a way to get a copy of that version. anyone know how to get it?

::yes::
I totally agree.
During the old program, you could hear people "ohhing" and "ahhing" over the pictures, and you actually saw some people brushing away tears, because it showed things people could relate to in their own life (plus the music was wonderful).

I think VERY CONTRIVED fits the new program very well. It's as if they took still photos from a Brady Bunch TV show and then showed you a movie of how that "ridiculous photo happened". Like stills of Marcia in the act of getting her nose bumped with a football and then show a little movie that leads up to that picture. It's THAT contrived.

If anyone comes across a link to the True Colors HISTA pre-show, please post it. Even the new one would be good (every little boy who had a dog that ran away will back me up), but I really miss True Colors.

(UPDATE)

I found this: http://www.intercot.com/themeparks/epcot/futureworld/imagination/default.asp

but, it requires Real Video, and I don't have it. (Yeah, I know it's free and available, but it's also ridden with spyware and I've had major problems with it in the past, so I'm boycotting.)

So, I'm not sure if this is it or not. If so, KEEP LOOKING for an mpg or wmp for me! (Quicktime would be OK, too, but I'm none too happy at them, either).

Let me know if this is it. Worst case, I'll download Real Video on an old box and download it there.

I LOVE the songs by Phil Collins and also the kid version. They do play on Sorcerer Radio like 2 to 3 times per day.

Sonno - Thanks for the lyrics to this inspirational song from Disney way back in 2006. these will be great for use with my students.

3 years on, someone has put the movie & soundtrack onto You Tube here youtube.com/watch?v=-sUFv7QLOUE Bit of camera shake but otherwise great. :surfweb:

1) OK.
2) I admit it.
3) The old "True Colors" got me misty EVERY time I saw it.
4) I don't have a video.
5) But, I have the Kodak True Colors audio (not the two commercial versions).
6) I searched for it for over 6-months.
7) Finally, an Epcot CM found it for me.
8) The full 6:28 minute version with multiple people singing.
9) And, I play it often!

NOTE: If felt so ripped off when I saw the new version. Sure, things have to change, but this was a change for the worse.

I have to admit that the old True Colors pre-show made me want to set bamboo on fire under my fingernails instead (yeah, yeah, I know I'm in the minority here). I haven't seen the new one yet. But DH LOVED that old one and used to mock me continually for hating it and finding it so tedious.

I loved the old preshow. I bought a t-shirt with the slogan, "The first rule of imagination: There are no rules". I love that. The new preshow is just one long commercial.

If I was Kodak, I'd ask Disney to stop "updating" their pavillion... so far, its been less than successful.
You know, I've been saying this to my dad for years...either he's too embarrassed to point that out to the higher ups or Rochester really doesn't give a crud. ;) Of course, they have plenty to worry about besides that, like keeping the company in business...I miss every element of the old Kodak pavilion, but especially the Kodak employee lounge where we could have voiced this concern directly (and enjoyed a coke while waiting for Captain EO/HISTA) Sigh.

The "True Colors" one is nice but I really liked the pre-show that the song was "Capture a Smile." Does anyone remember that one? That was a nice one, although it was a LONG time ago (may even have been the pre-show for Captain EO and not HISTA but I'm not sure...)
