We are flying into Sanford and have 2 prices for hire cars. 1 from Dollar and 1 from Alamo using the USRentacar website.

Has anyone used USRentacar and which provider would be the best, Dollar or Alamo?

Thank you!

We have booked a seven seater minivan for the end of June for 22 days on the recomendation of a work colleague. My colleague goes 3 times a year to Flrida, uses USrentacar every time and has never had any problems. We have booked through Budget and have received our E-voucher when we paid the remaining balance last week.

Fingers crossed that everything will be fine! :thumbsup2

Have used both Dollar (9) and Alamo (2) it may be just bad experiences but both times the Alamo cars were more tatty and older traditional american style cars.

I have used both and preferred Alamo. Having said that, from both companies - every time we have hired a car we have been very impressed with the quality, cleaniness and sheer "new"ness of it though :thumbsup2

We've only used Alamo once (in January) and admittedly at MCO not Sanford, but have used Dollar on a number of occasions. Biggest bonus for Alamo over Dollar is that you get to pick your car with Alamo whereas Dollar simply allocate you one. That having been said, we have never had a bad car from Dollar.

In Jan we had a luxury booked, and when we arrived the guy checking us in, tried to convince me to have a Cadillac SRX, which is a sort of 4x4, for a load more money. So say, they had only just received the stock in, and "normally" they would be $700+ per week, and he was prepared to let me have ot for around $30-40 extra per day. Needless to say I declined his kind offer. Then low and behold there was one parked in the luxury lot, so we just took it:)

Guess I'm saying just be a little careful with Alamo as far as this is concerned. In contrast, ever since we started booking luxury cars through Dollar, we have never had someone try to get us to take something different.

Just out of interest, have you tried Airline Network for a quote? We've useed them a number of times, and they can be competitive, albeit in January we used USRentacar, as we wanted to use Alamo and Airline Network only used Dollar at that time.

We used Alamo, from MCO, at Easter :thumbsup2

We had a 7 seater minivan (for 2 adults and 1 child) ordered but the guy on the desk tried to get me to upgrade to a 4x4 type car (more boot space, fewer seats) at $10 / day extra

Needless to say, like Boss, I declined and, yes, low and behold, there was one in the 'mini van' parking area............................ :rolleyes1

Have to say I was a little worried that we might be charged extra on drop off but it was all okay :sunny:

I booked our car from the Budget.com website, used a Walmart code from Mousesavers and bought my own annual insurance policy from Insurance4carhire :thumbsup2

I have never actually been to Florida YET :-)) We are going in the summer.

However a workmate went a couple of months ago and used USrentacar, I don't know all the details but he said it was the only bad ponit of his holiday. When they went to collect the car, the car hire supplier (not sure without asking him who it was) would not accept his ticket, said it was not valid and no amount of discussion would change their mind. He ended up paying just over £1000 for 3 weeks rental when the original cost had been less than £600, he really was not happy and has advised me not to book with them. So I need to know who to book with :-))

One tip if you have a choice is to look at which rental company your airline/tour operator uses for their flydrives and package deals. You can bet half the folk on the flight will be in line at that one, so book with the other and save yourself some time waiting in line.

We booked last year with USRentacar no problem, but Alamo charged us twice for fuel and neither they nor UsRentacar were interested in refunding us even after months of emails and phone calls.

Thank you for the comments, it looks as though I'll go with Dollar, it's the best price as well!

Thanks again!

We're flying into SFB using Dollar this year for the first time - I plan on doing my normal trick of poodling through security and baggage collection - the later you get your car after your whole flight has flooded to the counter to get theirs, the higher the chance of a free upgrade due to no cars in your class... just my experience anyhoo!
