Hire car Hawaii to pick up at airport

Hey there,

We are thinking to grab a hire car direct from the airport and keep it for our entire trip for Aulani. We are getting it through Alamo, it states it is HNL international offsite - to anyone who has used them before, was it much drama getting their shuttle to the offsite location and how much time would you allow for fiddling around for the drop off when heading back?

All of the rental car locations are offsite at HNL. I would allow at least 30-45 minutes to drop off the car and get the shuttle.
Just an FYI - Getting there is the biggest challenge because everyone and their brother will be trying to get on the shuttle before it gets full (especially if you arrive on a weekend). When you get to Alamo, you should be able to use the kiosk computers located to the left...as long as you have a confirmation #. It was much faster than waiting in line.

Ok thanks, do the shuttles keep coming regularly or at set times? Would we need to call them when we arrive?

They automatically go back and forth between the airport and Alamo. I am not sure the frequency. No need to call to arrange.

Exactly what Girimama33 said, Meemoo! All car rental companies are off airport property at HNL. I agree with her timing advice as well. We have never had much trouble catching a shuttle from HNL to our car company. Last trip this January our big problem was luggage that took FOREVER to arrive after our flight. It was at least 45 minutes after our arrival to the gate. And our luggage was Priority because we flew FC! Crazy….. hoping it won't take so long when DD#2 and I fly into HNL next month….
