Does anyone have or used a Hip Hammock while at WDW? DS will turn one while we are there. We will take the stroller, but just wondering if this is worth the $$$$! Thanks!

We have one and we love it. We used it a lot on our trip in December. We started using it a few months ago when our little guy got tired of riding in his sling. It's easy on my back (hate the front type carriers) and comfy for Paul. Plus it folds up small and is easy to stuff in a diaper bag.

We used a sling when my DD was little. It was nice for standing in line and distributing her weight. I think that any kind of carrier for a baby/toddler would be helpful.

We used the hip carrier from onestepahead.com and LOVED it. I had the Bjorn and hated it whe DS was only 3 months but could carry him all over at 17mo at Disney w/ no problems. It was super easy to carry him in lines and then when entering a ride seat just snap it open at the neck and sit him on lap or seat facing out. It stayed snapped around my waist and then just flipped it up when we exited off the ride. I've loaned it to so many people going to Disney and they've all came back thanking me and very pleased.

I think this one is cheaper, comes lower on the kids back and less bulky than the PLaytex Hip Hammock but otherwise very similar. Our DS slept in it as well. Definitely get one of the 2!!

Love it , love it , love it!!! Now the longest I've ever used it was probably about 3-4 hours at a party at my in-laws. It was great to be able to walk around carrying my DD practically hands free. If you get the one from Playtex, get the deluxe version. It has a really nice soft inner layer, and the outer layer feels like suede. It also comes with a washing bag. Has a place for keys, cellphone, and a clip for pacifiers or toy. My DD loves it b/c unlike the Baby Bjorn she can see everything. And for me it's comfortable, and easier to walk. And it can also be used for larger babies/toddlers.

Thanks for the great info on the hip carrier my DD will be 17months old when we travel this site is the best

After reading some great reviews, I asked DH to get this for me for Christmas (and he diid). I haven't really used it yet, but tried it on at home, and walked around the house a bit with DD in it. It seemed to be much more comfortable than the front carrier (Snugli) that I already had. We will have our double stroller for our DDS (2 1/2 and 6 months) but I intend to use the carrier for when we are in line, inside attractions, etc.

nucpharm29 stole my wording! :) I LOVE my hip hammock! I have been carrying DD in it since she was about 6 months old and 16 pounds. She is now 22 months and 30 pounds and I still love it. I used to carry her all over Disneyland with it and used it at WDW when she was 15 months.

We now live in Boston and I carry her all over the city with it, usually leaving the stroller at home. Even at 30lbs I can still carry her for for several hours straight with no problem. On NYE she was in it for the better part of 5 hours. At WDW with DS in and out off and on throughout the day, it should serve you wonderfully. Plus, it should last you long enough to get a lot of use out of it. DD sleeps wonderfully in it as well. I hope that you decide to go for it and are as happy with it as I am.

What exactly is a hip hammock? We are planning a trip to Disney in October when our DS will be turning 1....

Also, my DH is 6 feet + and about 275 pounds - he is a really big guy. Any advice on what type of carrier would fit him?

Would a sling be good for a 1 year old?
