There's another word. I remember learning in Psych - Child Development. Might have started with an E. Sorry, hated Psych.

eta: looked up. Sorry, was thinking of phonemes - "the basic units of sound in a language" and morphemes - "the basic units of meaning in a language." Now remember WHY hated psych. (But had "e" sound, anyway.)
