I was hoping anyone who has stayed at the Hilton could help me with a few questions.

1. How far is the walk to the Disneyland gate...the maps are deceiving.
2. Would you recommend this hotel to others?

We chose the Hilton because we are going to the D23 convention and would like to be near the center. We booked the hilton with a great rate, but we are waiting to see if the Disneyland hotel comes out with any deals as well and we could split the stay.

We are also doing two days in LA before and will be renting a car. I am trying to figure out if we should keep it while at DL for 7 nights so we have it to go back to the airpot, or drop it off in Anaheim and take a shuttle to the airport.

Thanks!

I stayed at the Hilton 1.5 years ago. We walked once morning and not again. It is long walk to DL the way we walked.

I have heard people say that there is a short cut through the parking lot to the tram but I couldn't find it.

There parking fee is high $11-15 a night. And the parking lot is far away think of a mall parking lot. Its big and far from the hotel.
The rooms are nice and clean.

I haven't stayed at the Hilton for more than 20 years, so I won't comment on the hotel itself. The walk would probably take between 20-30 minutes, but there is also an ART shuttle available for a fee.

My DH and I find little use for a car at DL, so we have recently started taking the train from our home in central CA. If you were planning on renting a car for 7 days while at DL and the D23 Expo, I would agree that dropping it off makes more sense. Even if you want to rent another car to return to the airport, that option is probably cheaper than 7 nights car rental plus parking. -- Suzanne

We stayed at the Hilton a few years ago before the remodel and loved it. We had a Disney view room and the front desk staff were wonderful. The parking lot reminded me of the parking lot at Universal Studios Hollywood. It is too far from the park to walk so we used ART without issue. Hope that helps!

They were probably talking about the old Timon lot. That's gone now -- it's the Cars Land construction area. Your best bet now is ART.

I didn't stay at the Hilton Anaheim, but I did stay right across the street at the Marriott.

The walk, according to Google maps, is one mile from the Hilton to Disneyland. I would not recommend walking. I usually have no problem walking just one mile, but because I do so much walking in the park, one mile is pretty far at the end of the day. There used to be a shortcut entrance to Disneyland on W. Katella (in the back of the Hilton), but it is no longer there. The Disneyland sign was there, but there was a security guard who told us we couldn't use the entrance.

One positive of the Hilton/Marriott location is that there are 2-3 different ART shuttles that service the area instead of just one. I don't think I waited for a shuttle for over 5 minutes because one was either at the Marriott or across the street at the Hilton. If you do decide to walk to Downtown Disney, there is a small walkway between the Hilton and the convention center that pedestrians can use to get to W. Katella. The walkway isn't recognized by google maps, so beware that the maps could send you on an unnecessarily long path.

Hope I could help a little :flower3:

What stacieberry and others have posted is accurate. I've stayed at the Hilton four times over the past three years and really like it, especially after the refurbishment was completed last year. And for convenience to the Convention Center for the D23 Expo, it can't be beat.

But it definitely pays to do your homework, like the OP is doing. :) Among things to consider are the extra fees: the self-parking fee ($15/day) and internet fees can add significantly to your room rate. Just something to keep in mind.

ART is a very good transportation choice, now that the walkway to the defunct-Timon lot (e.g. Cars Land construction) is no longer accessible. However, I would guess that during the days of the D23 Expo itself, there might be complimentary Disneyland shuttles from the Convention Center to Disneyland. I wouldn't know for certain this far in advance, but it seems very likely that Disney would set that up.

I love the Hilton and have stayed many times. The shuttle runs quite often and you just walk out the door to catch it. It's close enough to take the shuttle back in the afternoon for a little rest and swim. They often have great prices too.

Wow thanks for all of the info!

I think we are going to skip the car rental. The $15 a will add up quick. It seems the shuttle is the better way to go!

I too LOVE the Hilton!! Its our favorite & we just stayed there in December and we are staying there in July. The shuttle runs back and forth so much and is only a couple bucks for the day.

The actual hotel, once you're there, is VERY comfy and a little bit swanky to me. :) The beds were comfortable, and the room was quiet, once you were inside.

But it is a convention/meeting hotel, with allll the scads of people you can expect for things like that. The lobby is NOT quiet or serene. But again, rooms are good.

Of course, we stayed there via priceline, for about $54 plus the cost of parking our car, so that was MOST excellent. :)

Wowo that is a great deal! Well we are going to be there during a convention, for a convention but it is the D23 so it is a Disney convention so that should be fun!
