Hilton Honor Members

For anyone who is a Hilton Honors member I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with.

I am an Honors member plus I have a credit card that gives me the Honors points as well.

How do I go about exchanging the honors points for an airline ticket? Does one point equal one mile? I called the 1-800 # a while back and didn't really understand what the guy told me...he said that I have to call the airline and they do the exchange themselves but how do they do that without knowing how many points I have?? I have never had an airline mileage rewards card before so I am curious as to the easiest way to use the points.

My guess is that it's not a very favorable conversion, though. Hotel points are better spent on hotels.

I know we swapped like 60K hilton points into American Advantage miles. We didnt even want to fly on american either but we did it because the hilton points were going to expire and then we added them to our american points and used that for our vacation to disney booking through aa vacations. We didnt book a flight, just the room only. The conversion is not good but its ok if you are just letting the points sit doing nothing. You can look at the flyertalk website too. They have a lot of info.

The Hilton credit cards are not really airline mileage cards. They give you Hilton points instead. You are much better off using your points for hotel stays if you can.

We didnt even want to fly on american either but we did it because the hilton points were going to expire

are you sure that they were going to expire? I've been a member for a long time and don't recall ever seeing anything about them expiring.

I originally got the card because coincidentally we stayed at Hilton a few times in a few months and the card had an excellent promotion at the same time so I figured it was worth it. But that was almost two years ago and I haven't used any of the points since!!
