Does anyone have any experience with Disney Hilton Head? We're trying to decide whether to bank for Disney or try HH.

We just got our SSR contract confirmed and have our official DVC cards! We were all set to try to book for December/Jan, but a surprise :crowded: :earsboy: won't let us travel until after then.

Soooo..we were trying to work out something at Hiltonhead between 17 May and 9 June.

Tried to search the forum, but search is disabled.

We love this resort. So much so that after 5 visits we added points on there(other is OKW). We have been in July-very busy, very hot, lots to do; April- beautiful weather-beach time, golf, shopping, dining; at the holidays- wonderful stuff happening at the resort-daily activites for kids and adults including kayaking, wilderness walks, crafts, whale watching, santa etc.- weather then ranges from 30's one year to 60's the other.
You do need a car to see the island. You can walk to Shelter cove shops and dining and you can take the shuttle to the beach house, but for everything else, you need a car.
We drive there, but my sister flew from Boston to Charlotte then a puddle-jumper to HHI airport. You can fly into Savannah and rent a car and drive about an hour.
Disney's HHI resort is not on the beach, but on the harbor(Shelter cove). The Disney Beach house is 1.5 miles across the road and is beautiful with another pool, beach access, lounge, restaurant and sitting area with fireplace and TV. Once on the beach, you can walk 6 miles or so...gorgeous beach. The resort also has outdoor events like oyster roasts and BBQ. The accomodations are comparable to OKW in size. There are very few 1 bedroom and these are hard to come by. We love all the CM and have always had great treatment there. You will love it! We aren't going this summer, (WDW 12/28-1/-2/04, Williamsburg (II) for June and WDW again for next Dec)but definitley in 2005!
May -June should be a wonderful time with great beach /golf weather , but not the humidity you get in July/August.

We absolutely love HH DVC. It's one of our home resorts (also OKW & VB). Connears has given a very good description of what it's like and all there is to do. I'm not sure if you will be able to get accommodations for the time you want at this late booking date since HH is such a small resort. You might try calling to see if there is availability before you make your decision.

If you go before Memorial Day, you should have no trouble getting your reservation. A lot of the schools in the South are over by Memorial Day, though, so starting then, the resort is usually a bit difficult to book.

Also, you didn't say what size villa you are looking for. There are relatively few studios and 1BRs, so they are usually more difficult to come by than a 2BR.

Late May/early June should be wonderful at HH. The weather will be warm, but probably not too humid yet. The ocean temps will be a bit on the cool side, but the pools will be great.

Be careful, though -- HH can be very VERY addicting. ;)

I made ressies at HH about 3 weeks ago and had some trouble getting 4 nights. I tried April 25-29 ; May 9-13; June 6-10 and June 20-24 & nothing available. I was able to secure May 23-27 after I was put on hold for about 5 min before MS came back and told me she could do these dates. This was for a studio. Perhaps they had more availability in other room types. Good luck----maybe we'll see you there Dismee :D
