Hi all!
I have some questions regarding Hilton Head.
Looking at booking in September for Anniversary. Where is the best place to fly into? From Minnesota.
What things are there to do at the resort?
Husband likes to stay busy?
Do we need a car?
Any other info you can give me would be great.

The closest place to fly into is Savannah. Well, actually you could fly directly into Hilton Head, but it's a fairly small airport, with not much availability. Savannah is pretty expensive for us, so we (and lots of others) have also flown into Charleston (2-2 1/2 hours) or Jacksonville (3-3 1/2 hours). And I can't see doing HHI resort without a rental car. If nothing else, there's no equivalent to DME, so how would you get from the airport to the resort without a rental car?
There are lots of resort activities, a pool and hot tub at the resort, and the beach house, which also has a pool.

AFAIK there are no direct flights to HHI from MN. NWA used to have one on Saturdays, but I think that was eliminated during the merger with Delta. Flights to Savannah are often more expensive than flights to Charleston, but we think it is worth it to not have such a long drive to/from the airport. You absolutely will want to rent a car, especially since your DH likes to be active. Have fun. I just love HHI and hope you will also.

You should also look into flights to Columbia, SC. Its roughly 150 miles from HHI so only about a 2 - 2.5 hour drive to the resort, all interstate until you hit Hwy. 278 onto the island. I also highly recommend having a car to get around.

Well this one is a bit more of a stretch than Jacksonville, around about 4 hours, but if fares are attractive you might want to check out flying into Charlotte, NC (and if you're inclined to see the sights in this city all the better). And there's Augusta, Georgia airport about 160 miles away but probably not as many options/carriers.

I would keep checking flights into SAV or if you connect in Atlanta then check the hoppers to HHH (Hilton Head airport) as it is VERY nice to fly right onto the island.

To Do:

• Fishing
• Boating
• Golf
• Biking
• Dining (200+ restaurants)
• Beach Combing
• Surfing, BodyBoarding, SkimBoarding
• Civil War History

A car would be nice but not necessary. DVC has a shuttle to beach and you can walk or bike all over the island. Taxi to/from HHH airport.
