Could someone please direct me to info on Hilton Head? We are heading down there for our Ontario March break - I know it won't be HOT but will sure be warmer then Ontario in March.
Looking for info on dining, golfing and any other activities suitable for a family with dh, myself, an almost 16yo ds and a 10yo ds.

Thanks!

Hi,

We are also planning a trip down there for the next to last week of March and aside from rain (maybe), I think the weather will be great. We live in Virginia and it's hot enough here in the summer so I purposely didn't want to go there in the summer. Plus, the advantage of that time of year is no or at least fewer bugs!

I got on the trip advisor website, I think it's tripadvisor.com and there are lots of restaurant reviews there which is helping me plan.

I haven't been down there myself in years but am excited to see it again.

There's a Hilton Head lovers thread, and some of us have been to HHI multiple times. Feel free to ask here if you have any specific questions. I might be able to help with golf-DH has a goal to play almost every course on HHI, and he's about half-way there. Then, of course, he'll have to play his favorites again!

Thanks - I'll go looking for that!

We will be taking our clubs since we are driving and would like to do 2 golf games - 1 18 hole and 1 9 hole. Any recommendations?

If I remember correctly, the Shipyard had 3-9 hole courses. So that might be a good place to play 9 holes. If you wanted to play 18 holes there, you had to play 2 of the 3 nines. The Robert Trent Jones course at Palmetto Dunes is especially nice, and fortunately convenient. The George Fazio course over there is a tough one for many golfers that can't get the ball up. It seemed as if every green had a sandtrap in front of it, and I remember a woman we golfed with was SO frustrated. The RTJ course was also very pretty, right along the ocean. The funny thing we noticed was that "The Ocean" course in Sea Pines, despite its name, had virtually no ocean view, except briefly on the 15th hole.

Does anyone know anything about the marina down there. Can you rent slips for the day or week? This resort is within driving distance of our home, and we're considering a DVC purchase at AKL, but this would really cinch the deal with us if there was a place close by to bring the boat on those years we may not want to go to WDW.

I would talk to the harbormaster at Shelter Cove Marina:

Call (843) 842-7001 or toll-free (866) 400-7894 for more information. Or, you may E-mail at marina@palmettodunes.com.

A very nice place to moor your boat. :thumbsup2
