Anyone have kid-friendly suggestions for Hilton Head?

We're going to be there for a week in June for a family reunion and have lots of 2-5 year-olds in our party.

The HH resort has LOTS of great activities for that age group (actually - all age groups).

Try the UN-Birthday Party, any of B'Lou Crabbes programs (stories, magic show, music programs), the Dolphin Tour is a wonderful outing, Nature Walk, craft programs and , of course, the Campfire. There are many great activities and programs for little ones and the staff is WONDERFUL!

In addition, there are also two great pools and a wonderful beach to enjoy and June is a great time to be there.

Have a great trip! :)

Where are you staying?

Most kids that age are happy playing on the beach and swimming in the pool (if there is one available). There are children's shows at Harbour Town and Shelter Cove almost every evening. Miniature golf is available, plus another place called the Family Fun Center. There's a small water park off Pope Ave. Rent bikes for the family and the youngest can ride in an attached seat or sit in a bike trailer. Go crabbing off a pier. Movie theatre is great when it rains. Pony rides available at Lawton Stables.

I'm sure you'll all be exhausted at the end of the day!

I can't seem to get the post a link to work right now. But there is a thread on HHI located on this board HHI Adoration & Information 2009

I will try to post later from work. :)

Also, if you PM me I will send you some links to HHI websites. I have one called 100 things to do in HHI.

Also, when you find the other thread let me know what days you will be there and I will add your name to the roll call.

We are going June 7 - 12. It will be me, DH, DD 12, DD 14, Nephew 12, and my Mother.

The family concerts in Shelter Cover are very cute. My DH and I were walking around one evening and watched the concert and crowd interaction. There were many children in that age group dancing and having a great time. I think the beach house pool and the beach is a great all day activity which allows to go back to the room for the all important afternoon nap.

That's a nice family program by Shannon Tanner, who has been performing at Shelter Cove each summer for years. He also offers a family cruise on the Holiday (also from Shelter Cove). The band shell is right across from the resort - about 200 yards walk.

Tuesday nights right after dark there are fireworks sponsored by the Shelter Cove merchants. Many of the DVC villas have a superb view since the fireworks barge is moored right behind the resort.

There are also miniature golf courses nearby.

Here is the HHI Adoration & Information 2009 thread mentioned by dallastxcpa. It has lots of great information.

We were just there last week with five children of all ages. The youngest is 20 months, & her favorite things were taking bike rides & walking along the beach. I think when you are going, dog owners can only have there dogs on the beach early in the morning, but our DD absolutely loved walking up & down the beach in search of doggies to watch playing...most of them were most happy to share kisses with her! ;) Since the weather will be warmer for you, you could really get some enjoyment from days at the beach. Sand + Water + Kids always seems to be a winning combo! (My DS (9) was thrilled to have a shovel & just started digging holes. Don't you know, he came out of one BIG hole with a HUGE, BEAUTIFUL seashell...the kind you pay money for in souvenir shops!!

As others have mentioned, the Shannon Tanner show in the summer is a must (not there in off-season :sad1:). Another thing is they have a ceramics place in Coligny Plaza where you can pick out something to paint. They just need two days for glazing/firing. They had some smaller, fairly inexpensive ornament type things & the owner also suggested doing handprints on a plate.

You will have an awesome time! One thing we have discovered at HHI is that you don't need to over plan (like WDW trips). Sometimes the simplest bike ride, walk on the beach or digging in the sand becomes the greatest adventure. Enjoy your trip!! :goodvibes
