I am DVC owner at BWV and BCV, but I'm pondering a HH stay in order to have a nice environment to finish a writing project. Generally speaking I won't be traveling back and forth to the beach, so that's not an issue, but two questions:

1. What and where is there to eat close to the lodge, and
2. What are the chances of scoring a studio for March or April?

TIA!

There are several dining options within walking distance - Scott's Fishmarket, The Kingfisher, Little Italy (?), Mexican (I can't think of the real name right now) and The Harbourmaster. There are LOTS of other choices a short drive away.

With only 21 studios at the resort and March and April being Spring Break times, I'd expect those units (and 1BRs - same number) to be in sort supply and high demand ... BUT ... you'll never know until you call MS.

Good luck! :)

No idea about March or April. We just got back from a few days at HHI and it was VERY quiet.

Tide Me Over at the Community Center is a nice place for Burgers and things. Make sure Joyce is cooking!

Kingfishers is across the bridge from the Lodge (easy walk) can't tell you about the food. There is the Shelter Cove Mall just a little further, I think there is some food there also.

They will give you a Restaurant guide and a copy of Perks when you check in. There are about 20 places on the island that give you a discount if you show them your room key.

We liked the Brick Oven Cafe near the entrance to Sea Pines.

Thanks, Doc. I won't have a car, so I was interested in walking distance. The variety doesn't have to be super, it just has to BE! :)

You can also walk to the mall (about 500 yards from the resort) and just beyond- also within walking distance - is Giuseppi's (pizza/Italian) and Fuddruckers (hamburgers).

Enjoy! :)

Rent a biike while you are there. The weather will be perfect and you can definitely expand your eating horizons! :)

Piggly Wiggly is just past the mall (don't know if it's too far to walk-DH has done it, but I think it's a little far). I noticed a few months ago that they have a good selection of individual sandwiches, salads, hot selections, etc. which you can take back to your villa.

San Miguel's, never miss it on our stops! As Doc points out, there is such a variety of places within reasonable walking distance, you'll have no problem finding something that suits your tastes. Plus, there are several delivery services on the island as well (one of the restaurant guides...not sure if it's one of the ones you get at check-in, or one of the rack guides...has the delivery info in it).

I agree that getting a studio at this late a date might be an issue, but by all means try!

Regards

Thank you, friends. All of these suggestions are super and, as it turns out, I MAY have a car. In fact, I might drive down - as long as I can make the drive in one day. I used to be able to swing that, when much younger, back in the DAY!!! :)

If not, I do love to bike, though usually it's a stationary bike in a spinning class :)

I once rented a bike at FW and had a wonderful spin.
