........looking for some feedback on Daufuskie Island. Has anyone taken a daytrip there while on their HH vacation? Capt Scott's shell combing or another ferry ride there and rented golf carts? Would love to hear any feedback.
Thanks!

Me too ! I want to know. Surely someone on the boards has taken this trip.

I haven't been but there's a pretty good segment that runs on the travel channel from time to time about the island, I think it's the Great Hotels Series. There's also a travel book that has some pretty good info about several of the outlying islands but I forget which company puts it out.

That is just to much work for us. We just kinda veg out when we get to HHI. we always say, " well that tour seems fun'" but then we just either take a nap or jump in the pool.

We have  just about yearly for the last 5-6 summers with Captain Scott.

It's a 3 hour trip at low tide. Along the way you'll see dolphins as well as native birds which Scott will point out to you. This is how we've chose the beach combing trip over the dolphin tour, because for the extra money, you get the best of both worlds, in our opinion.

When you get out the Dufuskie Island, Scott will pull his boat as far up to the beach as possible, but you still have to get off of it and into knee deep water. It's a short walk to the beach, where you never know what your going to find. We did it in March this year, and saw an Eagle soaring overhead. We bring along a bucket to put our shell collection into to get back to the resort. We've done this so many times that I always say we're not picking anything more up, but we always do, as it's hard to resist a beautiful starfish or sanddollar laying right on the beach.

Anything you pick up with the intent to keep has to already be dead.

Along with shells, we've seen our share of "live" creatures. Sand Dollars, Various types of Star Fish, Sting Rays, Fiddler Crabs, Blue Crabs. Scott has always walked along with us pointing out things that we would have walked right past has he not stopped to point out to us.

Here are some pictures of our trips:

CGCW,
Yes Capt Scott's trip looks great, but we were wondering if there would be enough interesting stuff to see (w/out boredom for the kids)on the island to take a ferry and rent a golf cart to look around?
