Next month we're headed to Hilton Head from New Hampshire. I really dislike I-95... between the horrible traffic and it's got to be one of the most boring and ugly roads in existence.
Per another thread, we'll probably take I-81/I-77 down which sounds pretty good.
On the way back, I'm considering getting off at Norfolk and taking the coastal route US-13/US-9 through Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey. Google says it would add a couple of hours. I'd rather have a 19 hour interesting trip with short ferry to stretch legs rather than a 17 hour boring trip. After all, on the way back home, I'm not in a huge rush... it's "the journey", right?
If anybody has taken that route, I'd be curious if it's really only a couple hours longer and if it is pleasant/interesting?
Thanks in advance!
