Hilton Head Thanksgiving 2007!!! Surprise guest Wednesday night. (post #5)

Who's going to be there???

Anyone up for our annual DIS get-together on Wednesday night? I've already put in the request for Surfmen's Station...

For any first-timers, for the past several years, we've had a DIS get-together at the HH Beach House on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Adults, kids, everyone. We just ask that you bring an hors d'oeuvre and/or a dessert (finger foods!) to share with the rest of the group. You also need to bring whatever you and your family want to drink. (Adult beverages definitely allowed!!)

There are several of us who regularly go to Hilton Head for Thanksgiving and look forward to this traditional "night before". Hope to see all the "regulars" and some new faces this year!

Got your email! Yes, the kids & I will be there. We're bringing my sister this year too. Even without Kevin I know we'll have fun. We are soooo looking forward to going. Can't wait to just relax and have my biggest decision be where we should eat that day. (Ok, who am I kidding? That's already planned out. ; ) )

I will definately be there for the get-together. The rest of the family will, at the very least, pop in and say hi.

Guy and I will be there, and we'd better have a get together-I'm planning to bring goodies from Signe's Bakery! Guy made his golfing tee times for that week last night, so it's a definite now.

I'm sooo in need of a Hilton Head fix. Let's hope it's just a "tad" warmer than it was last year, though!!

Just got great news. First of all, we will have Surfmen's Station on Wednesday night.

But most importantly, CHEF GORDON WILL BE COMING OUT OF RETIREMENT FOR THE EVENING!!!!! Personally, I couldn't be more excited or honored.

Now, I'm not going to give away all the surprises (actually, Gordon is keeping a few a secret from us all) but he has promised to provide some of the food and perhaps even a bit of wine for our evening!

So, if you're going to be at Hilton Head for Thanksgiving, be sure to keep Wednesday night free for this bash! Please post here and let me know how many (adults and kids) will be attending.

That's wonderful! I admit not being too thrilled with HHI to begin with (back when we were there a few years ago), but Chef Gordon's meal made for a spectacular evening. Congrats and enjoy! He's the BEST!

Wow, that's great news-and such a coincidence! We were just talking about him last night and saying how great it would be if he could participate in our get-together. Then we kind of laughed, "Yeah-like that's going to happen!" Now wait til I tell DH that it really is-he'll be thrilled!

Great news about Chef Gordon! We think about him often since he gave my DD (future pastry chef) a HHI apron on the last trip -- she wears it often and quite proudly!

I talked to Chef Gordon last Feb. when we stayed there and still have happy wine memories from the one and only DIS-Thanksgiving gathering we've been to. Have fun you lucky people. And WTG Dottie!!!

Wow, good to know it's a tradition. Maybe someday we'll be there during that time! On my trip in early October, I saw Gordon several times in the gift shop and wanted to strike up a conversation with him about having read all about him on the DIS, and how we wanted to do A Private Affair, but the kids were too little and when they were old enough - it had been discontinued. But, I was too shy to bring up all of that. He seems like such a nice person. Maybe someday I'll have the nerve to tell him he's like a "old friend from the DIS".

Mr. and Mrs. Conan the Librarian will be at HHI, but, as we'll have a houseful of family (actually two villas), we doubt we can break away (but, we will if we can).

You'll know us because of the Giant Capt'n Hook sticker on the side window of my Vue.

Oops, can't even keep my house clean these days, much less my pm box, thanks to the new baby...but lucky me, he's asleep right now so I can play on the DIS a bit (I should be writing thank you notes, but that's another procrastination. ) We decided to repeat last year's trip of Thanksgiving at BWV although I'm still torn a bit, will miss HH and your gathering! Have a wonderful time!!! And let me know if you need any passes.

If you mean the entry passes to SeaPines, my hand's raised. We love to spend time at the Sea Pines Nature Preserve. We usually go there at least a couple times a trip.

Just wanted to bump this up for anyone who might have missed it. Also, those that will be there, would you please let me know how many there will be in your party? Chef Gordon wants to know how much food to prepare and how much wine to bring!! He also thought that I might get more people interested if I let you in on what he's planning:


Coriander-Cumin Marinated Chicken Satays,

and Mexican Hot Chocolate Fondue

Sounds pretty good to me! I may just skip making Thanksgiving dinner this year after this!

I'm really getting excited. I got my big dinner for 12 out of the way last night, so now I can finally think about getting ready for Hilton Head next week!!!

Just wanted to bump this up again to see if we can pick up any more people for Wednesday night.

Also, there were a couple of posters who weren't sure if they were going to be able to make it or not, or weren't sure about the number in their party. Please do your best to give me a count --it will be most helpful to our guest chef! <G>
