Does anyone have any info or trip review of the Disney Hilton Head location? I need places to eat, what to do, etc. We are staying right next to Dis HH but our condo can use the facilities from what I am being told. Our children are 17, 14, and 13 it that helps.

I didn't think the other condo complexes could use the Disney facilities ?

There is a lot on the island to enjoy. Miles of fitness paths for bike riding or walking.

Our favorite places to eat, not necessarily in priority order.....

1. Signes. A bakery and cafe. Good freshly baked goods, breads, quiche, salads and sandwiches. Open for breakfast and lunch.

2. The Sea Shack. Good fresh seafood and very affordable. You will eat on plastic plates and use plastic utensils, but you will not find better priced seafood on the island. This shack...and yes it truly is....is popular with tourists and locals alike, so be prepared to wait in line. Follow the rules.....order before sitting, wait in the suggested area, know what you want and how you want is prepared and you will be fine.

3. Dye's Gullah Fixins www.dyesgullahfixins.com This is a great little restaurant run and operated by Dye, a woman proud of her gullah heritage. She prepares everything from scratch daily and you will find some of the best fried chicken EVER at her restaurant. Crab cakes are the size of your hand and full of crab, no filler. She makes her sweet tea and corn bread with pure cane syrup and they are truly to die for! She serves a buffet some days and menu on others. She insists on reservations as she only prepares what she will need for the day. I can't say enough about this restaurant.

I was wondering about what we were told about the Disney Resort. Keep the ideas coming. Also, what can you tell me about getting a boat for fishing?

Check out info on the DVC forums, mousecellaneous thread in particular, they have lots of people talking about Hilton Head. No other condos can use any of the Disney facilities, only if you are staying at their resort, the beach house area is key-card only to get in.

We're going in July and you have me intrigued. What exactly does "follow the rules" mean? I have to order before sitting, wait in the suggested area??? And know what you want and how you want it prepared??? I love good seafood at a good price, but what the **** is this all about?

OK - Now you've got me nervous. Is there a menu I can look at before hand (mainly for my wife and kids)? We seem to have a hard time making decisions about food.

We went to HHI in 2008 and my DH and step father went fishing. There are several places to rent boats or to go on an excursion. The two big areas are Shelter Cove and Sea Pine Habor (where the lighthouse is). If you like to kayak there are place to rent them and you can kayak, lots of times the dolphins will swim right next you!

You can go to hhidining.com and put in the name of Sea Shack and it will pull up a menu for you. Looks wonderful. We really don't get the best seafood in the midwest.

From what I remember they were all about the same, and none of them cheap! They did a half day excursion on a fishing boat with about 30 other people and it was @$60 per person. There were deep sea excursion that were all day that were over $1000. They all take off from the same few places though, and are all about the same price. I am not sure if one is better than another because they only went on one! My DH was more interested in the golfing than fishing...

HHI was BEAUTIFUL though, so lush and green. Make sure you get there before dark. They have very strict rules about signage and lighting to keep the island looking natural, and if you don't know where you are going you will get easily lost in the dark! Most of the stores do not face the mail road, the backs of them do, and they are sequestered in little parking lots surrounded by trees and foliage. It is really beautiful how they have it, just makes it more difficult to get around at night since the signage is all some small.

Yes, it is right across a bridge from Shelter Cove. Shelter Cove has some nice restauratns and shops, and you can see the fireworks on the water there, but I forget which night of the week they do them.

It's next to the Beach House. The actual resort is across the hiway on the marsh side.

We love it in HHI. We are going Memorial Day weekend. One thing we enjoyed was a sunset cruise on a catamaran. I'll ask DH who we booked that through if you are interested.

PAlmetto dunes is the plantation(neighborhood.). The beach club is inside PD. the resort is on the otger side of the highway at Shelter Cove, but itis part of PD because beach access is inside the gates of the plantation.

Within PD you can stay at a hotel, rent a house, condo, timeshare. But unless you are staying at Disney I really don't think you can use their facilities
