We decided to stay at this resort on the way back from WDW to NJ. I had great difficulty in getting the actual address from Disney. What's up with that. The actual address wasn't on the websit in the maps/directions section. While they did have directions from I 95, no timeframe or mileage for distance. (they had at least timeframes from airports and Charleston, SC) When on the site and the talk to a person came up, I asked for the address. They said they were only there to talk about the Vacation Club. I had to call and it took over 20 minutes just to get a CM and they were reluctant to give and address! I don't understand this at all! I'm trying to plan my trip home and need the street address. I asked why no address and the CM didn't know! Is 22 Harbourside Lane, Hilton Head, SC 29928 correct? Thank you in advance!! We decided to stay here when we were checking the AP section of WDW site and saw great rates.

If you have a confirmed reservation, you will get the address and directions. I'm actually not sure why the address is so important given that you know the resort is in Shelter Harbor from widely available public information.

I think an address is important and wanted it. Can't understand the big deal. The husband wants to put it into a GPS. And I didn't know it was in Shelter Harbor just to let you know.

The only address on the confirmation is for Disney Destinations just to let you know. I made it online through the AP section and it only states the dates, persons staying and the name of the resort Disney's Hilton Head Resort and the confirmation number. The phone number is the FL reservations number as well.

Well, with due respect, you didn't try very hard to find the resort if you didn't know it was in Shelter Harbor. In fact, the address was available among the first few results in Google. That tidbit is easily available on the Internet. Like I said, you will get the address on your confirmation.

You would think that Disney would have the address on the product they are trying to sell without searching elsewhere and the address is NOT on the confirmation and that was made online with Disney.

I have to agree with the oddity of having to google search the address or phone number (direct number) of the resorts. It doesn't make sense to me why the Disney site doesn't just have that info right there. Actually, it irritates me frequently, because I like to call the resort directly to ask questions that might have to with refurbishments, rentals, tours, hours, etc. Questions only the resort can answer.

Honey, you think you had trouble getting the address?

Wait until you try to FIND the place!!!!

Of course, it might be easier with GPS, but we thought finding ANYTHING in Hilton Head unless you knew exactly where it is is dang near impossible! EVERYTHING and I mean EVERY THING is hidden from the street and the only signs are small, low, and the same color as the foliage. We'd have missed Disney entirely if there hadn't been a giant sign for Palmetto dunes right across the road.

Thanks, but in getting to my question in my original post-Is the address correct? Thanks. Is it worth stopping here on the way home from WDW? I just happened to see an AP special last week and booked it since it was $66/night. Thanks again.

Thanks. It's really odd since the addresses and phone numbers for the resorts at WDW are in the information.

Yes, the address is 22 Harbourside Lane, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928

Front desk phone number os (843) 341-4100 and Fax is (843) 341-4130

It is located in Shelter Cove Harbour across rt 278 from the Palmetto Dunes office.

IMO, it is worth staying there on your trip. There is a lot to do in the area - shopping, dining, nature hikes, fishing, golfing, tennis, Dolphin tours, sunset sailboat trips, cultural activities at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina (within walking distance), historical tours of the area, swimming, shelling, walking on the beach, Savannah is 45 minutes away ... and the Number 1 reason we enjoy HH - Relaxation.

Enjoy!

Actually this is one of the reasons it is not listed and why Disney went to a Call Center instead of the resort answering the phones to the Front Desk at WDW.

Too many people were calling.

Yeah, I figured that was a likely reason... Thankfully, we do have google though. :upsidedow

Although I love the resort I have to agree with this one. I remember the first time we went to the resort, we kept going by the turn off on 278. Also, disneyfan, be prepared to take your life in your hands when you drive. On this last trip, we met people coming at us the wrong way on one way streets, running red lights, stopping in the middle of intersections, etc. DH said we wouldn't have to worry about going there again-he didn't think we'd survive this trip. BTW, yes, we are going there again, but next time with a GPS and a pick up truck.

Thanks! We have driven all through the country and so far the worst drivers were actually in Salem, MA!! Same kind of thing-no one stopped at stop signs, running the red lights and driving faster than speed limits while doing so. No accidents that I saw though!! We have driven to WDW all but 2 of the trips plus the 2 trips to DL!! I've experienced all types at one time or another. Another place that was a tough ride was driving toward Newport News, VA. We live in NJ and have gone cross country 7 times so I guess this will be one of the tough driving experiences. I think the scariest road was Red Mountain Pass in Colorado in 1987, don't know if it's changed but I doubt it. Is it a long ride off 95? Thanks again and have a safe trip the next time you go!

About 30-45 minutes depending on time of day and traffic. For future reference, come to the DIS first....the best answers are here! :thumbsup2

Kind of what I did do. I checked WDW site to no avail. Look at the response I received when I first asked here. Everyone else has been very helpful!!! Thanks. We really booked this due to the great AP rate and that it was kind of on the way home!! If it were closer to 95 we would have booked it on the way down as well but that's a much longer drive than from WDW. We will probably stay just off 95 north of Savannah in Port Wentworth. Thanks again!!

df55 -- that was an odd response you got to start with. Even if you find out that DVC-HHI is in Shelter Harbour, you still have to find SH, and then wind your way around in there to find the DVC -- it's especially hard after dark. Others have pointed out how challenging finding your way around HH is -- very restricted signing, lots of locals batting about, and lost tourists floundering about. There's one main loop road, with roundabouts (which have their own challenges). Be sure to check in the lobby at main check-in time (4-ish) for cookies!

There's some HH info in my blog (noted below)

I know. Kind of made me wonder what the problem was. I appreciate all the posters that have helped, after all that's what I thought the boards were all about. As I did say, this is just a stop on the way home that I found with a great rate so we decided to try it out. Thanks again!

I remember my first time going to Disney HHI and driving after dark. I couldn't find a thing. As someone said they have signs that fade into the foliage and they are not allowed to light them very well at night.

We finally pulled into a restaurant and had dinner. I called them from the restaurant to get directions and found out all I had to do was go a block further in the same parking area. I did not have to go out to the street, the entrance was though the parking lot for the Shelter Harbour Mall.

Now all I have to do is go to my GPS and put in Hilton Head -> Point of Interest -> Hotels and it it already in there with the phone number. Most current GPS's will already have it built in.

You probably did not need to call Disney it might be in your GPS.

Bob
