Hilton Head Questions

Hi I havent' been around the boards for a while but we are planning to use our points this year for a trip to Hilton Head and was wondering if anyone give us some information on this resort. It will be two adults, a 16 year old DS and a 3 year old DD. I want to make sure its a place that we will all find something to do and enjoy. Your comments and suggestions would be appreciated it.

also any information about places to go visit nearby for a daytrips or activities would be nice. Thank you

I'm sure others will answer this better than I can as we haven't actually been there yet. What I DO know is that if you are going this summer and haven't made reservations, you nedd to jump on it. I made reservations for our anniversary in June and had to jump through hoops to get one! Finally had to get down to "is there ANY 3 or 4 day consecutive period available in a 1 bedroom?" As it is, we are on waitlist for one night.

The Island is packed June, July and August. It will be hot hot hot.

We spend a lot of our free time at South Beach in Sea Pines. They offer lots of free activities for the kids and we can sit and have a drink over looking the marina. They have dolphin boat tours on the Gypsy and when the cruise is over, they send you to a shop for a free sharkstooth for the children. My kids love it. The teeth are small, but hey, it's from a real shark.

The resort has lots to do. There are all kinds of organized activities for your daughter. There should be one or two teen night activities for your son; if not, the teens usually like to congregate at the pool table at Big Murgie's Den or the ping-pong table near the resort pool, not to mention the arcade at the beach house.

We usually like to just take the time to relax. DH and DS15 usually play golf once or twice, and I like to explore the island and shop at the zillions of stores.

We always say we are going to take a day trip to Savannah, Beaufort, or Charleston, but so far, in probably close to 20 visits to the resort, we haven't been able to drag ourselves away!
