Hilton Head Questions

Hi All,
I'm not a DVC Member but I was looking at going out to HHI for a few days over my spring break. I love South Carolina and Georgia. The thing is I know NOTHING about Disney's Hilton Head Island. Waht can you all tell me about it? What is there to do? Is there transportation from the airport? (I'm 21 and it is really expensive to rent a car) Anything will be appreciated.

There is transportation if you fly into the hilton head airport, however flying in to hilton head is a hell of a lot more expensive then flying into savannah....you could probably rent a car there for about $25 bucks a day...but you have a problem with your age...so you probably should fly into hilton head. if yoiu stay at a hotel near the beach and with a golf course you will be fine....if you stay at disney I believe there is a shuttle to the beach, but you may have to take a cab to play golf, as the resort is not on a course....there is plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well

I have to fly into Savannah because on my trip to WDW this past Aug. I got bumped due to major problems with the plane and given a free round trip ticket. They only fly to Savannah so my airfare is really cheap I'm just wondering if I want to go there and wondering about getting a car. Thanks for your info though.

You won't be able to fly from Savannah to HH ( I think only Charlotte has scheduled flights into HH) so you're options are rent a car or take a taxi. It's about an hour from Savannah to HH so I guess you can estimate a taxi's cost from that. It's quite possible to get by without a car in HH as it's poretty compact and there are several restaurants in walking distance. There are a lot of activities from the hotel. I enjoyed the bird and alligator walk on the National Park (Pinkney Island) which has transportation included, as well as the dolphin cruise which departs from the marina next to the resort. My DD and girlfriend did the beach trail ride which they both enjoyed, if booked through Disney they provide transport I think, but we booked it on our own so we had to drive ourselves ( a cab would be I'd guess $10 maximum)

It's less than an hour but I can't imagine a cab being $10 when it's $10 to go from BW to Ft. Wilderness. Besides, you'll need a car at HH anyway so just rent one for the time.

There is a shuttle from the Savannah airport to Hilton Head. I think it's called Lowcountry Adventures. They recently merged with Grayline tours, so you may even be able to find out something on line.

Sorry thought that was obvious I'd moved on in conversation, $10 was the price from DVC HH to Horse riding ( that I was talking about in that sentence)
