I'm sorry to ask a question that has no doubt been answered before but the search function is not working.

We are planning a trip to HH for May. We have been there before and have stayed in the Lodge building. We're trying to decide what location to request - realizing it is just that, a request. What 2 br location did you enjoy? What would you put in as a location request?

TIA for the help!! :)

We've stayed twice. Once a few years ago and then just a couple of weeks ago.

1st stay was in 2721 overlooking the marsh. Very pretty & quiet, yet still near the pool & community hall.
2nd stay was in 2611, overlooking the pool. Great view of the pool and could toss stuff down to the kids. Very convenient location.

Here's my mini trip report with pictures.

Hope that helps :goodvibes

We request a marsh view but don't always get it. We avoid the pool view locations because we don't enjoy the noise and our DD is now at the age she can go to the pool alone. The resort is very compact so everything is a easy walk.

We've stayed in buildings 14 and 15, 2 bedroom villa in both.

We liked this locations very much. Entrance faces marina and terrace overlooks wood 'boardwalk' walkway & marsh - it was rare anyone passed by on this walkway while we sat out. We found 14 and 15 to be a quick walk to lodge, walk to pool about the same. We liked parking our car right outside - not sure how parking is at other buildings . . .for some reason I seem to remember some buildings having parking that is not located adjacent.
Maybe someone here can fill you in more on that.

Enjoy your trip :goodvibes

Here is a report I did a number of years ago describing the layout of the HH resort. Views are basically Marsh, Pool and Island. Marsh views will have a look across Broad Creek. Pool views are the few buildings around the pool and Island Views have a look at the interior of the island including woods, other buildings and even glimpses of the marsh. There are no 2BR villas in the lodge unless you require a HCA villa.

As noted, the resort is pretty compact and it's not far to anything.

Enjoy! :)

Are all lodge views marsh?

Are all lodge views marsh?

In the Live Oak Lodge, I think that half are considered Marsh View and half are island view - but in this case, the island view villas also have a pretty good view of the marsh (thru the trees) and also have a great view of the summer fireworks. The Marsh View villas have a great view of the marsh, but almost no fireworks view. (Fireworks are every Tuesday night during the summer only.)

Building 13 (behind the Lodge) is right on the Marsh and has a great view of boht the marsh and the summer fireworks. The parking garage can be used for that building too. It has only 2BR villas.

Thanks so much for the help. I think we will request a marsh view and see what happens.

Now I have another question that I should probably post on another thread. How far a drive is it to Savannah? I am debating whether I want to give up a day at HH to check it out. Any input would be appreciated!! :)

I was just at HHI last week, and we went to Savannah one day. I think it took us just about an hour, maybe a little less. I love Savannah, so I think it's worth it. We did the Old Towne Trolley tour and also ate lunch at Paula's Deen's restaurant.

My in laws would love the Paula Dean place when we go in Feb. Is it easy to get to ? Thanks

It's very easy to get to. The trolley tour gave us a map of Savannah, and they even had it noted on their map! If I remember correctly, it's on the corner of Congress and Whittaker. Savannah is fairly easy to navigate (except for some of those parks!), so I think you'll find it fairly easily.

I would tell them not to just walk up when they want to eat and expect to get in. They start taking names at 9:30 in the morning and you let them know what time you'd like to be there for lunch or dinner. I understand that during really busy times of the year people start lining up by at least 9 a.m. I would hope in February that wouldn't be the case. We went in late October, and I think we got there around 9:45, let my mom out to put our name in, and by the time I circled around the block she had gotten our reservation for 1:30, which was our chosen time. I did notice when we went back around 1:15 that they had a sign that said they were booked up for lunch.

Here is their website: http://www.ladyandsons.com/

Definitely take your appetite. You can get either the buffet or order off of their menu. All of us got the buffet and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is a little rich, so we only went through the buffet once. The butter gooey cake was heavenly!

I haven't eaten at this other place, but I under that a lot of people also like Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room.

If you are staying at the HHI DVC resort, see if you can find Mike, who is one of their lifeguards. He kind of bounces back between the resort pool and the Beach House pool. He was super nice and helped us plan our day to Savannah. He sat down with us (after he got off of his shift!), and had maps of Savannah and gave us recommendations for which tours to take as well as directions. He was also really helpful with restaurant recommendations on HHI.

We drove down to Savanna a couple times ago and it is an easy drive. The line to get in, however, was out the door and about a half block long. Don't know if it is a seasonal thing or that it was new back then, but getting to it may be easier than getting in it. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
