I am a current CM at Hilton Head and would like to thank all of the wonderful members who post their trips on here. Reading all of the great responses reminds me of why I work here. I am sure I have met many of you who have stayed at our resort, I wish I was able to place faces with names. I would like to be a resource to anyone who has questions about what we have to offer. I also enjoy doing the Cheeky-Cheeky dance with many of you if you have attended our campfire! Stop by the recreation window....we could use the company during the slow season.

We love HH and the CM's there. We have been there the past 2 April's, and will return this March. We can't wait! The CM's there have been wonderful and friendly, I am amazed at how they can remember the kid's names. It is obvious that they love what they are doing. See you in March!

Welcome to the DIS and thanks for the offer, there are always people asking about activities and information, information will be greatfully recieved

We are totally excited about our trip to HH between the Christmas and New Year's holiday. My husband and I are making it a road trip from Dallas, and based on all the great things we have read here, we are sure we will have a super trip.

What kind of weather can we expect in late December? Also, are the dolphin cruises available that time of year?

Hi,

I'll stop by next month. I can't wait to go.

We LOVE the HH CMs!!!! We made our first trip "Home" to HH last Thanksgiving (our home resort is BCV, though). By Friday morning, we were calling MS to add HH points, but alas, none were available, so we had to do an add on at BCV so that we would be able to vacation at HH once every one or two years.
The CMs were fabulous! Gordon was a gem; Brian was so wonderful. Our kids both got to be great buddies with Todd, Cathy was a total sweetheart . . . I could go on and on. Can not tell you how much the CMs add to the experience.

BTW, we returned to HH for Christmas week with some friends who also LOVED it there-- it was a huge surprise for the kids -- we didnt' tell them until Christmas Eve that we were leaving Christmas day. They were blown away by all the great activities there, too. All the CMs they had gotten friendly with were excited to see them on that second trip and some of them were even in on the surprise.

So, CMKOJOHO, please tell the CMs we love them and we are excited to see/meet everyone when we return this Thanksgiving. When we were at WDW last week, our DD15 and DS10 both kept saying that no matter how much they love WDW they'd rather be at HH! Isn't that awesome!?!?!?!!?

I definitely see a HH add-on (resale) in our future! (gee, wish I could convince DD she doesn't want to go to college and we can buy HH points instead of paying tuition, and she could become one of the awesome CMs at HH and we'd HAVE to visit her often!!!) ;)

If February is part of the slow season, I'll be sure to. We went last March and loved it. Moving our trip up to February this year (2004) primarily because DH golfs and I think rates go up March 1. Also, at least last year, there was a special on renting bikes (which we love to do) that ended after February. So looking forward to visiting you in February.

Welcome to the DIS, CMKOJOHO! We just joined DVC in July (don't get our points until June), but I've been wanting to try HH desperately after reading all the great reviews here.

You guys must do an incredible job to get so much praise here.
:D

Well, we lucked up...Disney Visa was offering a great deal on HHI for October, so we're coming for four days during our kids fall break! :Pinkbounc

I can't wait to try so many of the activities I've read so much about here! Can you suggest some specific activities that would be fun for our family? We are 2 adults, and 3 children ages 9, 7, and 2.

Thanks again to my fellow DISer's for posting so much good stuff about HHI, and to the CMs there who make it so fun. :D

TNMomof3 -- I highly recommend renting bikes for your length of stay. You can get one with a baby seat for your 2 yr old. Our kids loved riding around the island and even just to and from the pool.
Also, even if it is not beach weather, be sure to go over to the beach house and take a walk on the beach -- it is so beautiful there and Disney's beach house is a stand-out among all the other buildings there.

Our son (who was 9 then) loved the "fish painting" and both kids loved kids night out. As a family we loved Shadow's Tales and B'Lou Crabbe's family magic show. The kids also loved fishing and kayaking.

The thing we all like best about HH is that you can do as much or as little as you desire. I love to just sit on the balcony in an adirondack rocker and read a book. Or take a book to the boardwalk that runs along the back of the resort, and just look out over the marsh.

I can't wait to hear how much you all enjoy your trip!

Oh, no!:( Can't believe I forgot to mention the awesome campfires (including S'Mores!!!) :p :bounce: FUN!

Hilton Head is our favorite place! I love Disney don't get me wrong but we wouldn't even be DVC members if it wasn't for my husband being so impressed with the Hilton Head resort. The CMs are wonderful, the resort is so peaceful and beautiful that he was sold in less than a day! My husband even loves Hilton Head so much he had me cancel our cruise (okay, I'm a bit bummed about that) so we could stay at Hilton Head. When I told him we didn't have the points, he said paid cash - which says a lot.

We are looking forward to our stay in a little over 70 days and we will be sure to stop by the rec window and say hi!

See you in November!

Loved HHI in July so much that we will be back in March as well. DD 6 had such a great time she can't wait to get back!:Pinkbounc

Welcome CMKOJOHO!

Our first family HH trip was last February. We drove through that snowstorm from NY to get there but it was well worth it. If we were flying our trip would have been cancelled. We are thinking of coming again in February so we will see you then.

Thanks for all the fun at HH!

Welcome CMKOJOHO!!

We are fairly frequent visitors to DHHIR -- I'm sure our paths have crossed at one point or another. (We were just there for the Labor Day weekend.)

We love HH at any time of the year. We're looking forward to spending Thanksgiving there for the fifth time. If you're one of the CMs who does the Turkey Bowl, you can be sure you'll see us there!

We're also planning to be back for New Year's Eve.

I have to agree with Keenercam -- if that pesky college tuition wasn't an issue, we'd be there even more often, LOL!!

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Hi!

Thank you very much for joining the boards and offering to answer our questions. Your timing couldn't be more perfect!

We're headed to Disney HH for October 4 - 11 and we are sooo excited about this trip. We are Marriott owners and are travelling to HH on an Interval International exchange. I couldn't believe how lucky we were to exchange to a 2 bedroom just at the time we wanted to travel!

I too have enjoyed everyone's trip reports and comments, and every time I read something I get even more excited about going!

Some of these questions may have been answered before, but I have read so much some of it is a blur now.

I understand there are activities that you sign up for. During October do they still fill up quickly? Are there any that we should try and sign up for right away when we get there?

At Marriott, we can usually ask for a list of activities to be faxed to us a few days before we leave. Can Disney do this also?

Is there an opportunity to see Shadow at least once in a week? I have read a couple of trip reports from folks who don't see Shadow during their trip. Our daughter (age 8) has been looking at all the websites with me and even named one of her stuffed dogs Shadow. She keeps asking if we'll really get to see him!

As a 'local', are there any good casual restaurants you can recommend? (I'm allergic to fish & seafood, so I know that limits things in HH!)

Thanks again! I'm sure I'll think of more questions before our trip.

Howdy from the south!
I have never been to HH. My husband and I would like to take his family there for a summer vacation. We would have to buy a resale addon from HH to take advantage for the 11 month window. I agree that I have gotten the bug from all the talk here.
Have to wait until next year to buy a addon though hope your still there.

July:Pinkbounc

We were there in July and my 5 year old twin boys are still doing the Cheeky-Cheeky dance. Drew also likes to say "Money, Money, Money!" We had a wonderful time and all three kids can't wait to return. My daughter, even with a broken arm, had a terrific time. She is still writing to a girl she became friends with. All the CM/lifeguards/dance leaders/face painters/van drivers/etc are great!

Thanks CMKOJOHO HH is a fab place -- my wife as she is now got married at the beach house a few years back.

Hope to get back there next year ;)

jj.......

We'll be there two weeks from today! Can't wait. We've got three red headed kids, so if you see us - CMKOJOHO - you'll know their mom is a DISer. We visited HH last winter, over New Year's, and didn't really take advantage of many of the activities at the resort. But this time, I plan on doing more.

We visited HHI for the first time in July.

We had a wonderful vacation, loved the resort and beach house.

I just read that a previous poster was married at the beach house. Oh my.

DD17 met a boy while we were there. She saw him for the first time at the top of the Hilton Head Lighthouse, which is several miles from our resort, they didn't speak just sort of smiled at each other.

The next day she sees him at the pool AT OUR RESORT. They didn't speak.

The next day(the third day) I notice a teenage boy in the pool playing with his little sister and I think gee, that teenager is doing a nice job of being a big brother. I did not know this was the boy from the lighthouse. My DD notices the boy also, but doesn't tell me about the lighthouse. I leave the pool to get cleaned up for dinner and DD is gathering up her stuff and sees the boy put on a baseball cap from our hometown baseball team. She asks him if he is a fan and he says yes, of course that's where he lives. Well isn't that a coincidence. They talk for a few mintutes. She doesn't tell me she talked to lighthouse boy or that he's from our town. They just say good-bye.
End of story- nope!

THE FOURTH DAY- We are in the water at the beach. Several people are using their feet to find sanddollars in the sandy bottom. I have never seen a live sanddollar, so I was fascinated. Well, I see a boy holding up a live starfish, which I've never seen alive either, well I'm excited. I call to my DD and DH to come see the starfish this boy has just found. They come with me and of course, it is "lighthouse/baseball cap" boy with his uncle. We start a conversation and find out the families are from our hometown. "Lighthouse/baseball cap" boy lives 6 miles from our home.

They talk and decide to meet at 9:00 PM in Big Murgies' Den for a game of pool, if their families don't have anything else planned.

Well, nobody had anything else planned that evening. They played pool until closing at 10:00 PM, of course they exchanged email addresses. Yes, they have been dating at home since vacation. Their first date, he took her home to have dinner with his family.

The family joke is that I found this boy for DD because I was nebby about the starfish. Incredible?!

End of story- of course not!

He has a group of nice guy friends at home. His friend is taking DD's friend to Homecoming. The two groups of friends got together at home and had fun at each others homes for the rest of the summer. End of story- who knows?????

Thanks for reading. I just had to share that story.

I am now placing an all call to DVC members! Everyone need sto go to Hilton Head to give those recreation someone to do the cheeky cheeky dance with! Let's show our dedication to this wonderful resort by making this the busiest winter season they have ever had!:Pinkbounc
