We are going to HHI this July 3-10, and wondered are the crowds unbearble or what? We have always been the HHI in June, but wanted to go July 4th, is this a mistake or ok??

We were there right after July 4th 2 years ago and it was very crowded on HHI, but the resort was fine. Traffic along the main drag is very heavy and peak times of the day. It was unbeleivable hot and humid that week, so much so that the main theme pool was hotter than bath water by 1pm and the CM would come out with laundry bins filled with ice and dump the ice in to cool it down. Beach was very nice (with an umbrella) and beach house pool was much more refreshing and they had planned pool games at each pool. The fireworks for shelter cove are set off right behind building 31 where we stayed so we had a great view(they also have them every tues in July). We tried mini-golf but after almost 2 hours we were still on the 14 hole so we just left(hot, humid, screaming kids-mine is 14, and lost of mostquitos). If you are looking for relaxing, good food, nice beach then you will love it until you travel outside the resort. That said, we are wait listed for 7/10/05. because we love the resort and beach. They also had a very nice BBQ and the main pool one night with games also. I would say you will have a fine time over the 4th..if you don't want it let ME know and I'll take it! I have slim hopes for the wait list.

It WILL be crowded. While the resort is almost always sold out during the "high" season, the week of July 4 is one of the first to fill up.

That being said, we have been going there for the 4th of July nearly every year since 1998. And we love it! Yes, the pools are a bit more crowded than usual, but the resort is also very festive.

When we go to HH, we tend to cook in our villa more often than when we're at WDW. The restaurants ARE crowded at that time of the year.

WE don't think going there is a mistake, but you'll have to see for yourself.

See you in about two months! ;)

HH is pretty busy all summer and Jusy 4th is no exception. We've been going there at that time for several years and totally enjoy the experience. The activities at Shelter Cove are fun and the fireworks on the 4th are great. Most years, there will be two nights of fireworks- every Tuesday and the 4th.

The resort has fun family activities and the island is very busy.

Enjoy! :)

It's a completely fun time to go! After being at DW on the 4th I don't think the crowds anywhere will bother me! Watching the fireworks while in the pool is a great memory of mine!

Have a great time!

We stayed there on the 4th last year and had a great time. On the night of the 4th, either eat in your room or make a reservation at a Shelter Cove restaurant and walk. If you drive out for dinner, you will not have a place to park when you return. I made this mistake and had a very long (and probably not particularly safe) walk from the other side of William Hilton Parkway. Of course, I had to make this trip again the next morning to bring the car back to the resort.

The resort has their own fireworks show, or you can watch the fireworks show in Shelter Cove.

Thanks for the info guys! Sounds like the 4th will be hopping to say the least!
I hope to play some golf there as well, LOTS of golf!!!!
