Hilton Head Island

A side note on the Sea Shack...it was a bit scary at first. We have eaten there on our last few trips, but it is...ahem...not the cleanest looking place. I was shocked at the workers, the kitchen and the cleanliness factor on our first trip. We went ahead and ate there, but I was more than a bit concerned. My family raves about the seafood (I dont eat it...always get a burger) and we havent died yet:lmao: but it is a bit shocking, imho. LOTS of folks eat there everyday and you do wait in long lines unless you go really late after about 7pm. I think they literally have about 10 tables in that place, but we usually get our to go now too.

Thanks for the heads up about the cleanliness factor. I think I will get ours to go. :rolleyes1

AuntChiladas is on the "south end" of the island (by the beach) they offer a wide range of items on their menu, the brick oven has pretty good pizza and believe it or not the Carolina Cafe in the Westin hotel has a great seafood buffet. If you make it over to Beaufort, Dockside resturant in Port Royal is where everyone goes for seafood. We also have Moondoggies cafe in Port Royal and Alvin Ords sandwich shop the shrimpshack by Hunting Island is famous for delicious shrimp burgers.

Yes, it seems like we have an abundance of Ohioans? down here. If you visit some of the shops on Hilton Head you can find stickers that say OHIO on them but the I is in the shape of the Harbor Town Lighthouse.

Have fun on your trip!

We will have to check out the stickers. We now drive around and see the HHI on cars here in Ohio and think we are "in the know". Like some secret club. :thumbsup2 With us being down for two weeks this time we will have time to see more places. Places not to be missed would be appreciated as well. :surfweb:

Can you tell me, is Savannah worth the trip with a 19, 14, and 12 year old? Also, is Taulbee Island worth the trip?:surfweb:

Savannah has some really great history, and if they like ghost tours there are different ones to choose from. I have been on several and the ones I like the most are the walking tours, some even let you go into some of the homes. My sons like to walk downtown and go to River Street to look in the different shops. The candy companies usually give out samples of pralines or fudge  . If you are into baseball the Savannah Sand Gnats (minor league team) play at Grayson Stadium. Tybee Island is a fun beach to visit, don't know the shape of the beach though I haven't been there in a while.
