My DH and I will be in Hilton Head next week. We usually eat breakfast in the room and maybe lunch. We are thinking of getting some take-out for lunch on some of the days, maybe Guiseppi's, the Smokehouse, and Sea Shack. But we are also thinking we may do a breakfast/brunch instead of lunch on one of the days. Where is a good place for a late breakfast on the island?

The French bakery in shelter cove (behind belk directly in front of park) is also excellent for both breakfast and lunch. You can take out or sit at a table. Lots of yummy things to try!!

We just got back last night from a week at HHI. Definitely try the French Bakery--you can pick up ham and cheese rolls for a later or next day lunch. I had a leftover piece of flounder from Kenny B's that was great on one of their baguettes. Stacks has very good breakfast/brunch food, less than a mile away, with a wide variety of pancakes, french toast, and egg dishes--with large portions. When you finish there, go next door to Bullies and get barbecue to take out for lunch. It is a little place, but they should charge for the aroma of brisket and sauce! The HH Diner was disappointing--very standard coffee shop menu, overcooked omelet with minimal filling, lackluster service. Depending on what you like, stop at Kroger or Publix and get some yogurt and bakery rolls. We had a studio and ate five or six of our breakfasts and lunches in the room. I'm a "hearty" eater, but we had leftovers enough times to feel really virtuous!

It also leaves lots of room for Dole whips at Signals and ice cream at Kirwins :)

Kenny B's has a nice brunch, but I think it's only Sundays. Palmetto Bay Sunrise Cafe? Also, a new bakery just opened in Shelter Cove-don't know their offerings, but if it's got the word "Bakery" in the title, my guess is good!

Tried French Bakery in July, and while solid, it wasn't exceptional breakfast food. Their bakery items were excellent, though, and you can take those out. We've enjoyed Skull Creek for a brunch since you can get seafood items. I asked them to give me a fried oyster eggs Benedict once, and they did!

Thanks for all the replies. We like more of a basic meat and egg meal for breakfast, especially when using it as a replacement for lunch. Stacks has a plate that sounds awesome. We may have to stop by the French bakery for a snack though! It's interesting to find out that Skull Creek Boathouse is open for breakfast. It's my favorite restaurant, but I never knew that. I did promise my DH though that we would take a break from it this year since he has bad memories of it from last year. He had just gotten off the boat after a 4-hour fishing excursion and got sick in the middle of the parking lot. I hope that with a year off those bad memories will fade and we can head back there on our next trip!

If you like basic meat and eggs, the French Bakery probably isn't for you for breakfast. We went there once for breakfast and DH spent the whole time complaining/joking that he couldn't get anything "normal".

The Plantation Deli looks really good, but I think we will go with Stacks. It has a basic breakfast platter and it's within a mile of the resort. We don't like driving when we are on vacation, but I don't like cooking either. We love to walk, so we may just walk to Stacks for breakfast. Thanks again, everyone!
